“Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it.”
- George Foreman
He still hasn't learned not to scream 'BIG RIGHT HAND' when a punch hits a fighters elbow/glove so it might be a bit premature to carry a whole show?
Unless he's gonna spend it screaming BANG BANG BANG over boxing montages, I'd watch that.
So...this will be similar to the show Steve Bunce had in the UK?

Haven't seen it but ill be sure to check it out and lampley is good when he's not doin the blow by blow he doesn't get carried away I know he played a small role on legendary nights but was a great show
Good show, enjoyed that
Watched some of it the other night.
The bit with Bob Arum was quite insightful, I believe him when he says he's not holding up the Pacqauio vs. Mayweather superfight
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
I've said it before. Lampley's a necessary evil. We'll miss him when he's gone. He may not be all that at calling the action in a fight... but he's the glue that holds it all together when Larry goes on one of his drunken monologues, or when things go a little out of control in the telecast. Love him or hate him... he does a good job.
well i liked the show esp. the part with rjj
Caught a little bit of the last episode, and I'd have to say my previous opinion stands.
We all make fun of Lampley. He's awful at accurately calling shots "....and another huge right hand..." he's fallen unabashedly in love with some fighters, such as ODLH, making him anything but impartial in his in-fight commentaries.... and a few other faults we can name.
But I gotta hand it to him. During fight telecasts, he's very adept at orchestrating the whole affair, including handing off to the speakers that really know the fight game.... bringing the commentary from the Max Kellerman's, the Larry Merchant's, the Roy Jones Jr.'s..... whoever is on the other mike. When there's been trouble or controversy, Jim usually gathers himself enough to deliver insightful comments on the matter. We give him a lot of shit... but the guy does a good job.
His program "The Fight Game" I believe is very good. Not only does it tackle and discuss the current issues in boxing, but it's done in a way that makes you think and sparks interest. As boxing fans, we all want the sport to prosper and become more of a popular sport. I think programs such as these help that cause.
I think he'll be missed when he retires.
I like Lampley, fight games seems unbiased and informative. I always enjoy it .
