Default A sad sad day...Antonio Margarito retires.

Im sure to the dismay of many many fans our favorite fearless warrior the Tijuana Tornado has decided to hang up his gloves and call it a career.

Tony was most famous for his fights with Miguel Cotto, their fight in 2008 showcased Margarito's skills, punching power, and relentless determination. That fight won him a very coveted Championship belt but more importantly won him the hearts of many Puerto Rican fans.

Im sure many of those same fans will comment on this thread about their love for the Tijuana Tornado, Antonio Margarito.

I'm not so sure about Margarito cheating in every single one of his top fights.
Clottey admitted himself that he didn't believe Margarito had loaded wraps in their fight.
The power in Margarito's punches didn't indicate loaded wraps.

I tend to believe Clottey's word in their fight than fan speculation.

Margarito did taint his own career though in his attitude towards the situation, and of course the Mosley fight.

I never understood why people talked him to a heavy puncher, when previous to the Mosley incident, when he was never that.
So after getting caught during the Mosley incident, people inclined towards the thought," See, he's not knocking everyone out."
Heavy hands were never one his attributes before this incident.
After the incident though, it all makes sense.

I am not defending Margarito or his actions- to make it clear.

    he had loaded gloves.

never should have been allowed to fight again.

did he cheat in his fights before that? doesn't matter. He tried to cheat and if he had gotten through with loaded gloves he could have seriously injured mosley.

I wish the recent motorcycle news was Margarito paralyzed instead of PW (and I was not a big PW fan).

Thats sick and you shouldn't wish that on anyone.

Well I doubt Margarito stays retired but we'll see. I still want to see him face Mayorga. I think a good amount of people would like to see that one. It'd be a good last fight for each man.

Yeah, that's true bro. I hate Marga-cheato with a passion... but I don't wish that type of thing on anybody. I'm happy he's retired, as I don't want him to earn a single penny more from boxing. But if he were to fight Mayorga as a goodbye fight, you can bet I'd be rooting for the madman from Nicaragua to put a major hurt on the cheating bum.

Yeah I'm really torn up about it. I have not felt this bad since Resto and Lewis did jail time and got banned for life.

    This basically.

I said this from day 1 when everybody was on his nuts. His claim to fame was being the alledged "fighter that Floyd ducked" - absolutely laughable that many believed that line of Arum drivel..
Career defining fight against Cotto has a question mark against it and he get's caught cheating in his next bout. Pretty much a disgrace to noble Mexican warriors.

On the flip side, he did awfully well for his limited skill set and had heart in there. Which I enjoyed in the end of his career because it meant he took deserved prolonged beatings for his paychecks (that he shouldn't have been getting)

    Laters Margacheato. Enjoy your monies.
