I read an article about it on sosoboxing.com today and I must admit that I'm surprised that this wasn't used before. Now the here's problem with it though; It would reward the guy who throws the avg higher impactful punches. So in essence a guy who uses tactics and keeps you off with a jab has a tendency to have a lower score with punchforce than a guy who's just wailing away.

I think at the end of the day its beneficial to use it in addition to all the rest. To use it as a supplemental data

This is another reason to keep doing what has been done forever. Boxing is a subjective sport because some observers prefer hard punchers, aggressive fighters, slick boxers, whatever. If you make it a statistical sport you destroy the art.
Everybody gets their panties in a bunch because Jim Lampley says something is wrong. Keep in mind that, even after 25 years of doing fights, the HBO crew knows fuck-all about boxing. Keep in mind that 99% of the time the judges get it right. Keep in mind that the fighter is ultimately the judge: If Pac had been sharp he would have stopped Bradley. As it was, he cost himself the fight.
Boxing is not baseball. Boxing is in and of itself the thing all sports aspire to be. If you want to make it statistical, fuck off. Go find something else you don't understand to monkey with.

I do agree with you on the point that boxing is sublime and the intangible is what makes the champs truly great. However I do believe technology can help the fighters. If instant replays or observers with a video booth were allowed to be used in fights so so many fouls and knockdown/outs could be properly sorted.

As for punchforce it only favours power punchers and not defense fighters or ones that fight on their backfoot. However it has one other useful property. It could have solved the issue of Slappy joe being slappy or not once and for all.

Keep technology out of it. What do you do? Stop the action? Go three minutes between rounds while some jackass watches video? The great equalizer in boxing is the knockout; it exists in no other "sport". (And boxing is not a sport.) Billy Graham is forever remembered among boxing fans because he was 'robbed' against Kid gavilan in a title fight. This last one will probably make Pac more money than if he had won.
Boxing is a human activity, a blood game. it hurts all the time. The odd "bad" decision isn't enough to cause change that will make it into another numbers-for-sissies-game.
By the way, my best friend and I had a heated debate about that fight. I called it 115-113 Pac, he had it 118-112 Pac, but I could see it going 115-113 for Bradley. Between us we have 84 years in and around boxing. If you want to reduce a sport to stats and numbers, please get the fuck away from boxing. Go screw with MMA.

Do you recall that KD of Barrera over Marquez? Afterwards he hit him in the back of the head, so that round should have been scored 9-8 Marquez since he was winning 99% of the round but got knocked down. However the ref called it a slip and an illegal blow.

What im suggesting is not that there should be pause between rounds so an official can review each round all they gotta do is watch the same feed we're watching at home since generally speaking those are the best angles. It doesn't take more than 2-3 seconds to call a slip a slip or a knockdown a KD. If it takes less than 3 seconds in a fast pace game like Hockey I'm sure an experienced ref or judge can call it as expediently as well.

Bad judging does not add flavour to the sport. It screws the boxers over. Ask Molina or Abril if they think the fight should not have been officiated better because the drama is inciting. How many more fights, how many more punches must they take to climb back up to the same place that allows them to have the opportunity to fight for a significant title again?

At the end of the day its about fairness. As much as I love to talk about JMM vz pac or Sweet Pete against Chavez or Emanuel Augustus being robbed again and again, I much rather that the right man wins. Leave the drama in the ring between the boxers and not with us, the fans arguing over bad judges or referees.
