Default Abner Mares vs. Nonito Donaire

Did Mares' performance change your opinion of what the outcome of a potential Donaire-Mares fight would be? Are people picking Mares now?

I don't know...Mares took quite a few counter punches from Moreno who is not a big puncher...if Mares fights that way against Donaire,he will probably get knocked out within 5 rnds...

I hear that, but he was a big underdog to Moreno, and stepped up to the occassion. I still like Donaire in the fight, but Mares might make him uncomfortable at times.

The ref in this fight would be crucial. On the side of Mares to beat Donaire prior to and after the Moreno fight.

IMO Moreno is a better technical fighter than Donaire, but Nonito is unorthodox and his counter punching could trouble Mares, but Mares has a solid chin and recovers quickly, tons of heart and could pressure Donaire like no other, IMO it's a toss up, maybe slightly in favor for Donaire due to experience and the fact that he's a southpaw (Mares struggled a bit against Darchinyan who well also was a southpaw)

Mares is very open to counters, Donaire I feel will find him easy to hit, and that will be the end of
Mares in 5 to 6 rounds. He is a limited brawler compared, to Nonito, the more I think about it the
this could be a easy night's work for Donaire.

You're right. My bad. In my mind, I thought Moreno was the favorite, but Mares was the slight favorite among betting sites.

With a fair ref Donaire wins. If Mares can throw low blows, heads and elbows all night and not get a point taken away or knocked out he could get a decision.

Disagree this time, if Mares tries the same pressure tactics with Donaire he will be KOed so quickly the ref will be irrelevant. If Mares stays away and tries to box, Donaire might let him last to the end. Mares is doomed, in my opinion, whatever the referee does.

Be kinda boring if we all agreed all the time lol. Mares needs a ref that will let him fight like a Smoger, not some media whore like Cortez that steps into interfere the moment a fighter steps forward. Mares has to get on top of Donaire from the opening bell and stay at his chest. He's not going to out box or out think Donaire.

    I didn't know Donaire was a southpaw.

I think Mares gets knock out.

southpaw, switch hitter, same shit, Donaire is allegedly a natural lefty, and he's been known to mix it up stance wise, either way haven't seen anything in Donaire as of late that would make me think that he would KO the likes of Mares
