I agree, but be damned sure Fury or Wilder aren't within hearing distance if you decide to say that publicly.

Modern amateur system also has resulted in many current professional boxers who really don't know how to throw a real punch with their body-weight behind it. Spent all their formative years slapping at the other guy for pts.

Who's to say that's the case? We've not really seen anyone hit him back. He got knocked down vs Harold Sconiers but what does that tell us? I can't find that on Youtube to see if it was a flash knockdown, a tangling of feet, or if he was hurt. All I know is the kid can punch and that's pretty important. He needs to have his fights work out like the Falklands War, he needs to stay at HIS range and not allow his adversary to find his own.

That is a horrible analogy. Argentina are still threatening to act like colonial bullies once again hiding behind the excuse that the UK stole islands they have no claim or interest in.

Boxers have always used the media to wage phony wars with words to build up potential lucrative grudge matches. Used to be in the press and on TV now it's via the internet.

Theres a clip out there of the Nichols fight where Nichols seems to drop Wilder (not counted).

Anyone who fought bare fisted must have been mad because the hand injuries would mean that their careers would not last too long.

All fighters call each other out through the press. Now they're using the available technology to wage battles on Twitter and Facebook. Except that in all weight divisions below heavyweight, they actually go out and face each other in the ring. The heavyweights leave it at the Twitter level... get some sort of mysterious injury... become interested in some other fighter... and proceed to remain inactive for a year and a half.

I was using the range of the weapons used as the analogy...don't get so damned offended. It fits quite well. Wilder is tall and lanky, he'll be best served to keep fighters at the end of his fists and no closer. The British had cannons that shot farther than the Argentinian cannons....it fits perfect don't get your panties in a twist about it....would you rather I say he should fight like Moe Howard vs a midget and just hold the midgit at bay by pushing against his head letting the midgit swing wildly without hitting anything?

New day and age. We soak it up. Shit networks dedicate complete shows to verbal jabs and pissing contests. You get hired and fired via computer now, why not fight and talk it up.
