I think he should at least defend the Lonsdale belt one last time and join a select few in doing so. He is still only 30. For a heavyweight that is not too old to improve but only he knows if he has it within himself to rebuild.

The immediate rematch was a mistake, a big one and anyone who knows anything about boxing could have told you that. The main part you have to take away from the rematch is that David DID do better, he DID improve....not enough to get the win, but hell some fighters just have your number. He never fought Thompson in a smart manner, and honestly that might be the biggest failing he has...his brain.

I think Price can rebuild but it's going to take careful planning, intense training, and David is going to have to defeat his demons his chin, his stamina...he can overcome this, the ball is in his court we'll just have to see how he handles himself.

He's not ever going to be ready to fight a current champion, but he could and SHOULD be preparing himself for the eventual showdown with Tyson Fury

    great iunterview -

You always said you were certain you would be world heavyweight champion. Are you still certain you will be?
No, I’m not certain, right now. How can I be after getting beat, twice, on the bounce from somebody who I was expected to beat. So I’d say now I’m more hopeful than certain otherwise I’d be lying. Ask me in three fights time when I’m back on the horse and I’m back in a bit of a winning routine and I’ll probably have the same belief I had in December last year. At this moment in time, though, I’ve got to get the confidence to get back up and get back to winning ways. That’s just being honest.

Price is so so likeable its such a shame he appears to be just a fringe world contender and not a challenger to klits etc as he clearly realises above - again which is why hes so likeable - he's not a complete dick!! I still think he would take Fury mind - Fury looked great vs kevin johnson but awful vs cunningham

If Price landed on Fury the way Cunningham did Fury wouldn't have gotten back up

I didn't mind so much the first fight, because in boxing (ESPECIALLY in the HW division), I don't care how tough you are, if you get caught with the perfect punch in the perfect spot, you're going down. It's wrong of us to expect any boxer to be immune to getting caught and KO'd.

But we do expect a fighter to have the warrior's spirit and iron will, so when you see a guy quit like Price did, that's much more damaging.

He can come back from this - but it's back to drawing board.

Wlad had a nightmare patch and look at him now.

Respect for going straight back in with Thomposon though

That' the brilliant thing for Price though. there's time for him to learn to fight in a smarter manner....Tyson Fury fights like a moron and always will and eventually that will lead to his demise as a heavyweight. I don't think Price is the best athlete in the world but I think he has the tools to be able to be a better boxer than he is right now.

The key right now is to dust yourself off, get some rounds in LEARN, DEVELOP, EVOLVE, and prepare for the eventual showdown with Fury as it will surely be on the way when Haye demolishes Tyson.

Try out Julius Long, Dominick Guinn, Sergei Liakhovich, Steve Cunningham, Alexander Dimitrenko, Fres Oquendo.....he can have some good fights and learn a lot before Fury comes calling.

Who is going to promote price ? I think he needs to fight away from Liverpool and that will lift some of the pressure off him. He needs a solid 10 round fight as he said, somebody who can take him rounds. Price isn't over, it's a learning curve for him.

Guinn is the first fight that comes to my mind. Never been down, never been hurt to my knowledge, slow workrate, and never KO'd or stopped.

I think Price should move stateside and get with Jonathan Banks or Banks' trainer, but to be honest Price's trainers haven't gotten it totally wrong, they had him doing the right things I think his management is what should change. Price is a tall outside fighter it's obvious he should learn from Wlad, Vitali, & Lewis and their career paths.

It could be an option for him but I don't see price leaving the UK, it would open new doors for him but it really would have to be who is promoting him.

Price is like Bruno mentally weak, he can come back but he will hit that block again when the pressure is up and it will eventually happen. Nice guy but not a killer.

@El Kabong I'd say right now Guinn is a terrible fight for him. He dumped all his stamina early in the 2nd Thompson fight, I think he needs a few confidence builders. Honestly, I'd start with Michael Sprott. He's been a durable fighter and is testing some of the eastern European dudes over in Germany. It'd also give him an opportunity to win his Lonsdale belt outright. He needs a few fights at this level I think.
