Default James Dean VS Marlon Brando VS Mickey Rourke

Who is the best actor out of these three and who best plays the role of an outsider?

Define "outsider" better....what kind of character would you consider an outsider?

James Dean was only in 3 movies, the talent was there for certain but only 3 movies. Brando and Rourke were just odd people.

You just did. Odd would be one way to describe an outsider. Or somebody who marches to their own beat regardless of what anyone thinks..

Quality over quantity.. James Dean may have 3 films but all of them are timeless movies..

Take Collin farrell for example. He could make 100 movies and nobody will give a shit cuz he sucks.

Well if it's just "odd" you're looking for then my money is on Brando.

Also the heterosexuality of Brando and Dean were constantly questioned...they may not have been 100% gay but they weren't 100% straight either if you get my drift

    James Dean.

    He epitomized the outsider.
Plus he's an icon, still recognizable all over the world.

Rourke's fame was never on that level.
Nowadays Brando is remembered as a slightly nutty, fat, old man.

WOW, you just posted my favorite James Dean poster ever.. the first time I found out about James Dean was because of this poster.. I walked into my girl cousin's room one day and there he was strolling in his black coat with the trademark cigarette in his mouth and his hair all fuzzy.. For some reason, I couldn't stop staring at the poster ( No homo btw ) .. I was appreciating the artistry..

Since ive always had James Dean posters and memorobilias filled in my room.. It's hard to explain but he has a different kind of charisma, something you'll never see in today's actors. He's just a bad motherfucker..

Greenbeans, Ive never heard of that movie for some reason.. That an Indie film? Raplh Fiennes is in it so imma check it out..

Lyle, I read a book written by James Dean's ex girlfriend and supposedly he was into some homosexual activity.. It says he lived at a director's home for awhile and did sexual favors to get on his good side..

I like Mickey Rourke cuz he reminds me of James Dean. When I saw him in Rumble Fish, that was it for me man! but the shit that got me was some scenes from The Wrestler when he was talking to his daughter overlooking the beach... That one got me choked up real good.. And the other part was when he went to go see the stripper after being released from the hospital.. that scene inside the van made my eyes watery as hell..

James Dean and Mickey Rourke are not genius actors imo but it's about their presense.. They act with their eyes and certain mannerisms that let's you know exactly what they are feeling.. these guys are the type of actors that dont need much dialogues.. They just fuckin gangster straight up..

Those two aren't in Brando's league. Marlon totally changed the art of acting for film. Dean got killed way before his time and Mickey Rourke is a walking PSA warning for plastic surgery gone wrong.

My favorite image of James Dean too, captures his essence.
I've not gotten around to getting that poster yet. In about 1989, I saw a big one in a frame in the Rideau Center in Ottawa, but as a student, I couldn't blow money on that poster when I needed the cash for booze and strippers instead....

Maybe I'll get around to getting the image one of these days.

Brando was famous before James Dean was. Dean got to meet him, Brando later said he thought Dean was sick, like psychologically sick, so Brando gave Dean the number of a good psychiatrist and said, "At least his work improved."

I loved Rumblefish. And Tom Waits bit part in it.
    Great lineup.

Rourke's character in Rumblefish: well, years later when Sin City came out, to me Marv seemed like an aged, seasoned version of the Rumblefish character.
    Rourke was perfect as Marv.

Great poster, never seen that one before. He is cool but just like Marilyn it is largely because they died early.

I took drama in school. My teacher had us watch James Dean. What a powerful actor. One of the all time best. East of Eden was his best work. Don't make them like that anymore.
