Great fighter, a Legend, but he could be very malicious.

He carried both the Macho Man Hector Camacho and Greg Haugen just so he could punish them more.
The beating on Edwin Rosario was epic.
Y'know, I watched a helluva lot of Boxing in that era, but somehow missed that one. And never did catch a replay. Over the years, the Rosario beating gets brought up every now and then, I guess maybe I should go look at it somewhere, eh.

Tyson was in the crowd and rooting for Rosario because I think he was in his stable. Even he admitted Chavez was brilliant.

I missed Chavez v Jose Luis Ramirez.

From what I have seen from this thread was that Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. was the most vicious of them all- something I already knew. He PUNISHED people... he made you want to crawl up and slowly die the way he beat you up.

He enjoyed beating the hell out of you but not enough to knock you out and put you out of your misery.

First time I saw him I did not know who he was and he pulverised a fighter who was built like an Adonis, think it was Francisco Tomas Da Cruz in France. He battered him around the ring finding every gap and punished him like he had insulted his mother. It was brutal and I instantly fell in love with the guy.

The way Chavez came back against Meldrick Taylor- and it was a crap stoppage- made me a fan. He is an all time top 5 great.

When im in the mood for blood, like when I feel like watching a guy get beaten without mercy, I always watch mercer-morrison and paret-Griffith.... its hard to explain and it may even be twisted but those KOs gives me this weird satisfaction...

Sugar Ray Robinson dished out some sickening beatings if you listen to documentaries of him and read books.

Shame theres so little fight footage of him around.

He had a dream he killed his opponent the night before the fight and was so freaked out the next morning he refused to fight so the promoters got a vicar to go to see him and talk him round.

He knocked the guy cold and killed him in exactly the same way as his dream.

I wonder if someone somewhere in the world is sitting on a goldmine of Robinson fight footage they dont even know they have thats never been seen before or if we will only ever see the few bits and pieces that are about now?

I doubt it.. if somebody had a tape of prime robinson, that probably means they are/were a huge boxing fan and they would realize it's a gem that could possibly worth a lot of money..

I dont think they can forget something like that unless they are really old ..

This sounds like the weird satisfaction I get when I see the Bowe vs. Gonzalez fight. I loved the way that dude got beat up, beat down and then wilted like a violet in a microwave.
