    Default Cadbury World

Went to cadbury world today with the kids during half term. Load of free chocolates and the history of the Quaker family and Bournville Village they created for their workers.

In 1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer’s shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham. Among other things, he sold cocoa and drinking chocolate, which he prepared himself using a pestle and mortar.

John's wares weren't just inspired by his tastes, they were driven by his beliefs. Tea, coffee, cocoa and drinking chocolate were seen as healthy, delicious alternatives to alcohol, which Quakers deemed bad for society.

Birmingham architect, George H. Gadd worked closely with George Cadbury to draw up plans for the factory. The first bricks were laid in January 1879 and 16 houses for foremen and senior employees were built on the site.

In January 2008, Cadbury launched the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership. £45 million was put aside to put into cocoa farms in Ghana, India, Indonesia and the Caribbean over a decade.

    What is your favorite chocolate.

The Mrs went Cadbury World, she said it was massively disappointing. She was expecting Willy Wonka and said it was more Amazon depot.

It was not that bad for a couple of hours of entertainment during the half term holidays. She probably wanted to meet Johnny Depp.

Cadbury's is historically one of the finest corporations in the world. However, I am becoming increasingly disturbed by their practices. My main problem with Cadbury's (and other confectionary makers) is that everytime I import chocolate the bars appear to be shrinking in size. Who do they think they are fooling with these chocolate bars? I understand that the cost of raw materials is increasingly way beyond manageable rates, but why can't they just be a little more honest about things? Keep the bar the same size and charge me more and tell me why I am being charged more. I cannot hate an honest corporation, but I do hate it when I physically see things shrinking. It makes them look like squirmy corporate suits and you shouldn't make customers who like your products think that way. They become like politicians who eat your money on purpose through inflation causing policies. I expect better of Cadbury's than to behave like that. Why can't people just tell the truth?

The same thing with some crisps too. You open the bag and discover that there are only about 10 crisps inside. The best thing about Britain is the food and to see the quantities getting reduced in turn means that the quality of the brand is also being diminished and that isn't good for anyone. My question is where does it end? How small can these bars go?

It is one way of not increasing prices I guess and cheat you without your explicit knowledge.
