Thread: Hypothetical question: What if Mayweather got busted for steroids?

How would the fallout carry out from this?

Of course, it would look terrible. Mayweather is one of the few elite fighters who has removed doubt by insisting on stringent testing for several recent fights, I really doubt he does take any serious PED's. I guess you can never rule it out though, as guys get older especially.

It would be a legacy killer for Mayweather. As it is, people hate him so badly they look for any reason to discredit him. If he got popped for PED's, people would write off his entire career.

He'd also take shit for being a hypocrite and accusing others of using PEDs, being a stickler for olympic-style testing, ect.

If there is one fighter on Earth I would put all my money on not using PED's it would be PBF. I'm actually pretty confident that he doesn't use PED's.


However I'm never surprised to see any fighter test positive for PED's.


Floyd doesn't have the traits/characteristics of what I consider a "Fighter on PED's".

Floyd has been very open with his testing so much so that he avoids certain things that contain supplements of PEDs.

I remember reading he avoids certain medicines due to their contents, not sure if its true but it seems possible.

And smart.

It's a tough call these days to distinguish if a fighter is on PED's or not.

Floyd does train very hard and must fight off injuries over the course of such maniacal training that the modern boxer must endure to keep up with his opponents.

It could very well be that all top pro boxers MUST use PEDS today of some sort and that Floyd has just found ways as all athletes do to evade detection somehow.

Of course it also could just be that Mayweather has supreme recuperative powers.

I notice Floyd's routine is not so heavy on the power training that many other fighters embrace. I see some general strength prep exercises at the start of his cycle and calisthenics throughout but other than the usual necessities he is highly skill emphasised, atleast compared to say Pac Man or Canelo Alvarez for example.

I don't think it would undermine his achievements since he would not be alone here but it would certainly taint his legacy which frankly, is as good as smashed anyway without Pac on the record.

If you're an elite athlete, you're a suspect for PED use. It's that simple.

There have been TONS of guys who have spoke out against steroid/PED use, and then got busted. The fact that Floyd speaks out so openly against them proves nothing, really. I'm sure a pedophile would tell you how disgusting pedophilia is, too.

Not that I'm accusing Floyd of using, but I don't discount it.

The sad thing is your exactly right, any elite athlete is a suspect.


Looking back thru history at all our ATG athletes in all sports it would probably be heart wrenching to find out which ones were on PED's.


Look at the recent "ATG" athletes that have been undeniably busted. MLB has been hit hard. NFL players have been busted as well. I'm not aware of any high profile NBA players but your a fool to think they don't use it. Olympic athletes have taken a hit. Boxing has taken a hit. MMA has taken a huge hit but for some reason people ignore it or just don't care.


In MMA, many fighters openly talk about using like its an ok thing. I scratch my head about how it got to that point. Its baffeling really.

We're talking about Floyd not about "just anotha brotha". Bad for Floyd and bad for boxing, in my opinion.

If Floyd is truly clean and has never used PEDs, than he's a great testament to what can be achieved without the use of PEDs.

He's one of the greatest boxers of all time and the most dominant athlete in sports today.

Well he is one of the only elite fighters to actually take comprehensive and reputable tests in recent years, if he'd been on something for those fights, its some BALCO style designer stuff.

I think they usually put it in their shoulder or buttocks but nonetheless it still circulates thru the body.


You might be thinking of a quartz shot to the hand for a hand injury. Im pretty sure a quartz shot is not a PED but im not sure.
