Angry Tarver vs Floyd. Hard to understand!

Floyd Mayweather makes millions every time he fights. Everyone wants to fight him so they can millions too. Floyd has out maneuvered some of the most powerful people in boxing. He's undefeated, a promoter, will probably be in boxing until he dies and whether he remains undefeated or not, will still be talked about a hundred years from now.
Tarver was a very good fighter who beat some great names. He blew a good gig as a color man when he was caught taking PEDS, now he has been arrested for writing a bad check or checks. He can't control his gambling or his weight, apparently doesn't give a shit about his legacy, can't get a big money fight to save his ass. His time in boxing is limited and he will not be remembered except as a bad example.
I'm not a great fan of Floyd or Tarver.
My problem is why do so many view Floyd as a turd floating down the river and Tarver with sympathy.
You can always depend on Floyd to do what is best for Floyd and his family, you can't depend on Tarver for shit.

Tarver was never half the fighter, and didn't make anywhere near the money, but when he was in a good way everybody hated him to. If Floyd hadn't made quite so much, and somehow managed to lose it and ruin himself, then people would feel sympathy for him, that's just how it goes for some.

The bottom line is that they are both ass clowns who don't really deserve anyone's sympathy. Floyd likes to gamble as well, whose to say he wouldn't be in the same place if he wasn't quite as loaded, Tarver is almost ten years older and finished as a boxer after all. I doubt anyone here is in a position to decide which man has taken better care of their family or is more dependable, and who cares about that. Unless Tarver wrote you a bad cheque

    How old is Tarver?

There's still time for Floyd yet.

Tarver is literally a one-punch wonder. He was in the right place at the right time and managed to catch one of boxing's greatest and gifted boxers of all time when he was at his most vulnerable. Then how does he capitalize on accomplishing one of the biggest upsets of all time? By IMMEDIATELY getting outworked and dropping a decision to Glen Johnson. Won a few, got completely embarrassed by Hopkins... what else has he done besides landing one perfect punch on Roy Jones? He stinks.

On the strength of that one win, he managed to parlay his 15 minutes of fame into a big acting gig and a commentating position. Now he managed to blow all that and put his life into the toilet.

I think one punch wonder is a bit harsh, unless you're just referring to his drawing power in which case it fits. He was probably never again as good as he was in either of the Jones fights, since he gave a pretty solid account of himself in the first one as well. He was a huge LHW, cagey southpaw with skills and KO power, just didn't like to show up in condition to work very often.

Either way, I remember when I first started posting on here, Tarver was probably the most hated guy in the sport.

I STILL wouldn't mind seeing Tarver knocked out......so stick with it "Magic Man"

Floyd isn't one of my favorites (to put it nicely) but he's head and shoulders above Tarver when it comes to skill. Floyd can dominate bell to bell, Tarver's biggest win was off of a punch that I don't even know if he knew where it was going. Plus Roy beat him in their first fight, there was no need for a rematch but Tarver kept on talking until he got his way.....so there you have it. 1 guy actually talented, the other guy in the right place at the right time.

I used to list Tarver vs a large truck in all those 'best fights to make" lists but actually came to like Tarver. His work on the mic helped. Also had him going 3-0 with Jones. The dude had skill but started late and layed a big fat egg after being handed a meal ticket in Rocky 1001. Not a mystery..Floyd is smarter and %100 one way in getting fan reaction. Off putting attitude and style etc. We know he is a floating turd, he wants you to know it and he laughs about it. Tarver is semi likable, has crossed over in media, always smiling draws you in but then caught juicing and a negative ring style most of the time. He has pissed good chances.
