HE looked beautiful. Nice of Martinez to not make in the ring excuses of his knee even though it did effect his movement

Cotto looked great now 2-0 with Freddie Roach. I'm excited to see him back. Always been a huge fan. Martinez knee was bum but I'm sure that Cotto would of still won.

Cotto has learned to stay low and fight small..even when he backs out he keeps down..
He uses leverage know instead of getting muscled around.

    Cotto gets it now.

I've noticed Cotto is really hard to hit clean, almost like Clottey or Wright used to be with those hands up.

He's not doing that retreating n covering up with his right only while turning away anymore.

He gets in n does work then he's out n protecting.

Damn good observation, Hulk. Looks like Roach took care of some of those old bad habits.

I have watched the fight a couple of times since. Its hard to say that Cotto wasn't on the ball despite Martinez's age and knee. I am surprised at how comfortable he looks at MW. Still need to see a couple of fights at that weight to see if Cotto really is in his comfort zone or weather Martinez really was shot.

All good to look forwards to.

I do not know if Cotto will fight at middleweight again or if it does it will not be GGG calibre fighter although Quillen in NY would be big.

He was 155 guys he was fighting ad a junior MW basically he just had a great camp but I don't think he should go to the full 160 it'd be too much

Manny and Margarito hit him clean....

And, yea! His footwork was pretty decent.

Well no shit they did. Obviously. Further proving my point.

BEFORE Roach, he was doing the retreating n covering up with his right only while turning away, thus being pummelled in that stance.

NOW he doesn't do that. Big improvement.

Exactly. All the more reason to admire someone like Cotto. He's shown the ability to learn and adjust his style throughout his career. He's fallen into some bad habits, but has listened to his trainers and made the necessary adjustments. All his trainers have had nothing but good things to say about his work ethic and his ability to learn. I thought Pedro Diaz did wonderful things with Cotto at that stage of his career. And now Roach has come in with his own style and beliefs... and he's getting the most out of Cotto. The only glitch which I never understood was when Cotto went with Joe "WTF" Santiago, which of course made no sense... but I think Cotto was in a stage of his life where he thought he could train himself. It took him awhile before he figured out you have to let the trainer be the boss.

Yes Cotto may have a quiet arrogance, but he has been a class act and a professional.

Joe Santiago must be that young guy he was with around the time of the Pac fight.

That guy knew a lot less about boxing than Cotto himself so yeah he was useless.
