Ron, I have to disagree (respectfully) that careers aren't ruined after just one fight. Meldrick Taylor is a great example of this phenomena after his fight with JC Chavez. He was never the same again after that fight. Donald Curry is another example of a guy who looked like an ATG and then fell apart after suffering just one loss. This is not to say that one loss ruins all fighters. The guys you listed and many others were able to learn and come back stronger, but in my eyes those guys are the exception and not the rule. Either way, you make a valid point about Thurman being a step up and more worthy than Algeri, and I hope that Thurman eventually gets the big fights he is after. We will see how it turns out for him...
