Default Santa-Cruz wants Rigo or Mares next!

Leo Santa Cruz says he wants Guillermo Rigondeaux or Abner Mares next | Boxing News | Sky Sports

Don't we wish Floyd Mayweather had some nuts like that through his entire career?

Floyd should now say: I want Manny and Thurman next!

Been hearing this for his last few fights. Highly doubt its true, particularly with Rigo signing for Jay Z

Yeah calling someone out and actually fighting are different things. I can see a Mares fight happening, possibly Frampton but not Rigondeaux.

I've never understood fans that get so excited about what fighters say. What matters is who they fight

It would be a good fight. If anything Santa Cruz has already shown he is an extremely active champion and does his talking in the ring. I think he beats Mares...Rigo, he better pack a lunch.

Haymon has a veto right on all Santa Cruz fights. Therefore, it doesn't make any difference what Santa Cruz wants.

Exactly. Its funny because all of the Haymon fighters call everyone out and yet...

Boxing is entering a weird phase. Haymon has taken hit and dont get hit to an all new level. Either match people against those who don't hit back or don't fight. I bet he opens his first big show with 8 of his disciples against 8 no hopers and it will break records because of the event and the anticipation of it rather then the quality on the field. Of course the network and Haymon will run with that.

From what we've seen, Haymon only matches his fighters with non-Haymon threats if the non-Haymon fighter forces the mandatory, a la GRJ/Loma. That's why I doubt Matthysse fights Provo or Santa Cruz faces Rigo.

From what I'm hearing is that fighters, like Santa Cruz, want to fight. They are hooked in with Haymon. But they really want to fight. Must be frustrating.

But, there is a way out of Haymon's contract- you will just have to pay through the nose.

With that being said, I think the US Fed agencies have to become more involved with these Haymon chains, like they did with Don King back in the day with the great work Senator John McCain did.

Its a shame "hoarding" is off the air. Instead of the cat lady or Billy the cardboard collector they could do Al the boxing pawn artist.

At least Arum matched in house as did King. I think we may be in for some short term pain but the pressure for him to match his own guys either against each other or a real threat will start to get immense. Add to that the two boxing gods are going to retire soon. This market is going to change. My only hope is that mediocrity does not become the new normal.

I would welcome the end of ppv.
