Default Andrew "Six Heads" Lewis has died in a car accident RIP

Former WBA World Welterweight Champion Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis died in a crash today at Friendship, East Bank Demerara.

His manager Keith Bazilio confirmed his death.
Bazilio was unable to provide precise details of what transpired but told Stabroek News that Lewis was walking along the Friendship, East Bank Demerara public road when he attempted to cross and was struck down by a vehicle. He could not say if it was a car, truck or bus.
Based on the information reaching this newspaper he died on the spot. The accident occurred around midday.

    RIP to him.

He was an entertaining fighter but he'll always be remembered as the guy who quit during a boxing match because he had to shit!

    Default RIP Six Heads Lewis

Always got a kick out of that guy.

Former world champion Andrew Lewis has died in his native Guyana after a motorist struck him on his bicycle. He was 44.

Police in the South American country say Lewis was struck Monday on a major road outside the capital. The retired boxer, nicknamed "Six Heads," was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Lewis became the first boxer from Guyana to earn a world title. In 2001, he beat James Page to win the World Boxing Association's welterweight crown in Las Vegas.

Guyana declared a national holiday after the Brooklyn-based Guyanese fighter won. He was given a home in an upscale area of the country, among other prizes.

Lewis lost the title in 2002. He eventually returned to Guyana where he fought regional boxers before retiring for good.

Not a good way to go at all (death), but it happens. I hope it was with minimal suffering.

    Andrew 'Six Heads' Lewis

A good guy. I met him in Brooklyn, New York years back.

He was from Guyana, but he loved New York, especially Brooklyn.

Really talented. A very under-rated boxer.

I remember his 1st-Bout on Television {Tuesday Night Fights on USA Network}.

It was like...... 'Where did this guy come from.'

Eh? Someone starts a thread about someone having died and you want to sling words? Charming fellow, indeed.

Andrew Lewis ~ 'The Gentleman from Guyana'

Andrew ran the 'FYF" {Forgotten Youth Foundation Gym} in Georgetown, Guyana.
    Open to all youth.

To say 'Six Heads' was a good guy was an understatement. He was a 'great guy.
