He doesn't need a rest as much as his image does. This is his marketing tactic. Not sure who originally said it but PT barnum (how fitting) was once quoted as saying "Always leave them wanting more..."

I think it was kind of obvious to most people when he stopped at the record... that he was coming back. An ego like floyd's would never settle for a tie with someone else but he knew his popularity and his gimmick lost its luster and that was only confirmed by the berto sales. So he's waiting to be paid what he wants for 50.

So he disappears from time to time and tries to give people a chance to realize how much they "miss" him so that someone will pony up the 9 figures he's asking. he only said "9 figure" like 5 times in the interview (hint, hint). Meanwhile his people are filing for "TBE 50" trademarks and other preps for this. His early preparation points to whoever the 50th opponent is being rewarded in the pocket but royally screwed in the prefight stips to ensure everything goes off without a hitch.

He has to cash in while the current crop of fighters is still green / or largely untested and haven't become PPV attractions and steal his shine. Thurman, Porter, Crawford, Chocolatito, GGG, Kovalev and Spence are all more exciting fighters than Floyd. The only one who's actively cashing in on PPV is Canelo maybe and that's because he has a market all to his own. Pac is retiring, If everyone put their stones on table and turned it up 2 notches the world would have moved on and Floyd would be the odd man out. BUt stuff like the Pac/bradley 3 arum in house money grab and Thurman delaying the porter fight by playing evil kneivil in his prius, the many moods of Tyson fury, Saunders flip flopping with GGG, and all other delays for unifications and more exciting fights that could be happening have kept this window open for Floyd to do his tease routine.... again. I wouldn't be surprised to see him bump it up if there is a particularly disappointing fight or negotiation (Like canelo refusing to fight GGG) or Thurman/porter ends in a NC due to a headbutt.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I've got no real interest to see Floyd fight again and even if he did come back who would he fight?

GGG? No way that fight ever happens, he's too big and too strong
Canelo 2? We saw the first one and there's no reason to think a rematch would be any different
    Pacquiao 2? ditto
Khan if he beats Canelo? Maybe that is interesting to a few people but not me
Lara? There's no call for it
    Thurman? meh
    Kell Brook? meh
Terence Crawford? I'd love to see that fight but Bud is too small right now, if his power was to carry up in weight I wouldn't mind it.

When adapted his "safety-first" style in boxing, who knew that someday this approach would apply to his fancying of opponents?

Who is there for him to fight? For what purpose? There are no Floyd level fighters out there right now.

2 guys in the future I'd like to see get shots at Floyd are Thurman and Crawford other than that, there's nothing left for Floyd to do

    CAVEAT

IF Floyd is just looking for big fights. If Floyd wants a full time return to boxing where he'll fight 1-2 times a year then Hell bring on all comers, but if it's a big time return 1 off bout he wants then he's going to have to wait for a bit for Thurman or Crawford for me to personally be interested

He wants 50 wins and a nine figure payday.

Yes, but that's a historic event shouldn't that warrant a historic matchup? I mean if it's going to be a big fight then the opponent needs to be worthy of such an event.

Ummm, because Floyd wants $100m for this fight and there is no way to have such a payday without a class opponent.

Why would Floyd want to fight a nobody? Floyd wants everyone to think he's the greatest of all time.....no "G.O.A.T." is going to make history fighting some no hoper.

You haters already stated that there's no one for him to fight. You won't be happy with any reasonable available competition.

He's the GOAT and TBE so much so that you guys can't even agree on an opponent for him...

    Blinded by your hate.

...and you just wait and see if he gets 100million for his opponent of choice.

If anyone can make it happen its Floyd!

    1. Yes, there isn't anyone with star power at the moment....at least star power that Floyd is willing to fight and your problem with that is?
    2. Floyd can fight whoever he likes (he has always done that) I'm just saying as a fan who I would like Floyd to fight....you know, as a fan of boxing who buys boxing PPV's and so on, you know, so I'm kinda one of the "target audience" for a guy in boxing....is Floyd in boxing?
    3. Floyd is neither "The Greatest of All-Time" nor is he "The Best Ever" now I know you're a fan and all and that's cute, but Greats don't hand pick their way to greatness, they take risks, Floyd....not a risk taker.

....any polyps up there? I mean you may as well check and give Floyd the clean bill of health while you're there

There's a risk every time a fighter steps into the ring. I'd expect a fan of boxing to know that... AND there isn't anyone for him to fight as all you haters have pointed out!! So stop crying ya bunch of babies.

Just don't buy the fight if you don't want to see TBE in action!
