The weight doesn't matter to me since the fight is entirely pointless. Cotto is faded so while he tries to strip every dollar he can from his fans he looks for someone damaged enough. Marquez is 40 coming off years of rehab of a bad knee, hmmm, shades of Martinez?

It's sucks how they both crap all over what they once were. I used to be a fan of both, now I like neither. Cotto in fact is by far the biggest Diva in the sport IMO. I mean dude still complains about the Manny catchweight(and rightly so) but he dictates weight in every fight for years now. It's a damn joke what a hypocrite he has become.

At least there is no title so in that sense its not as bothersome. If Marquez was smart he'd care less about the weigh in and more about the weigh out. On fight night Cotto will probably be 15 or 20 pounds heavier. But in Cottos defense no way can he make 147.
As for Cotto I have to ask why Marquez? He will be 44 and effectively retired for over 2 years. Now we all know and have appreciated the Mex/Pr rivalry but in most cases it was against people closer to their primes or in them. Cotto should pursue a rematch with Canelo or admit that he's past it and hang them up. Stuff like this starts to resemble embezzlement. Trouble is in this market people will pay for it willingly knowing it is.

On paper the 150 seems reasonable. 154 is far to heavy for Marquez and 147 is to light for Cotto. Here's an idea. Instead of making a fight years beyond its use before date and turning it into a farce, how about simply not fighting?

Either have a fight that means something or just do some exhibition bout the way Willie Pep and Ray Robinson did.

Catchweights are dumb, you're either going to have weight classes that mean something or you're not and people will get hurt and die

Boy. What a pile of crap. 147 and 154 are increasingly becoming stacked with talent and Cotto claws and scratches at every cent with hand outs over a near crippled non welter out of action for 2 yrs. Maintain some fookin pride man. Can't justify this with at least no trinket at stack as junk like this only gets then a step closer. If Khan v Canelo was a farce this is just pitiful. Stuff like this makes it increasingly easy to be negative about the sport. I reject this smelly steamer of a cash grab.
