Default ESPN Fight Night: Benavidez vs Douglin

A couple of talented young prospects being featured tonight and Friday has been a long time coming this week Long and tall 15-0 David Benavidez takes on "Momma's Boy" Denis Douglin 20-4 spr. Middles. In co main Alejandro Luna 20-0 vs Naim Nelson 13-1 lightweights.

Card kicks off in hour and a half! I see two different running times. Hopefully they show more than main event.

Nelson in on 24 hrs notice? Looks like a rock and in training, better TBA than we usually see. Luna all over the body early!

Nelson has all of one ko in career but tricky enough inside. Luna from the school of take two to give one but work off the body is solid and compact. Lunas left eye going to shat in 3rd.

again Teddy with the kitchen analogies someone feed that man ffs.

It'll be Nelsons feet and timing that see him through this now as he punches less. He is bouncing snowballs off a tank here but Luna yet to do big damage. Turning Luna well in 6th and landing pot shots.

Luna back in and strong 7th and 8th but not much plan B after getting in. Nelson with a cut middle of forehead and increased mobility, fewer showy shots. Luna flat backs out and away end 8th One of these two have to turn the page

Love when Teddy steers away from Marysol Castro promotion plug on Danny Garcia "One of Philadelphia's all time greats" and starts dropping names that leaves them fogged over

Benavides is just massive here! Wouldn't blink during this

Fun first couple rounds! Douglin willing and trying to sit in between with faster hands but really caught clean at rounds end. Benavides willing to fall into ropes and cover. Benavidez comes with a short right rifled through well for a tall guy. Douglin keeps exchanging this is over for him soon

Douglin doing work in 5th catching Benavidez looking bit complacent. For a split second with mouth open Benavidez reminded of Chavez jr . Douglin feeling the power in 6th, brutal uppercuts and body shots hurt Douglin!

Wow . Benavidez leans over top rope and collapses the turnbuckles Best break Douglin could hope for here.

Back in and Douglin going all out last minute of 7th, pouring on punches and again Benavides falling into ropes. Give that round Douglin. Ref literally has to hold ropes up against the weight

Top rope being held together with vise clamp and tape . Douglin hanging tough but wearing damage now. Benavidez ever learns to fight his range he will be fierce

Tremendous knock down end of 9th!! Douglin takes three straight uppercuts and falls hard, in trouble again in 10th and ref jumps in to stop it with Douglin on feet but soaking up hard left to body and chopping right. TKO in 10th for Benavidez

Marysol is hot, but I was amused when she had to look at the notecard to say "such greats as Danny Garcia and.......................Bernard Hopkins".

Teddy: "Yeah they were good, but fuck them, let me tell ya bout this white guy from 100 years ago" lol

Also there's a HUGE gap in accomplishment between Danny and Bernard in my mind.

That was great. Oh yeh it's not even close. Danny is tip toeing around and his next fight sounds like Andre Berto. His biggest win after Khan has been topped by a guy just dominated by Crawford and frankly Porter, Thurman, Crawford coming, Brook and Spence jr standing in the back of the room..the 'pop' of the division is more than equally distributed. Hopkins cleaned his house. Garcia better buy another couch or two because he has company. Besides when Hopkins did fight at a CW it was vs an actual HOF and not Rod f'n Salka.
