Thread: Donald Trump lifts ban on trophy hunting

Trump has done well on improving the economy, the stock market is doing better than it has in years.

But for this, he deserves the harshest criticism.

Elephants are unique and highly intelligent animals, and are the product of many tens of millions of years of evolution. It is the ultimate stupidity to allow these creatures to become extinct.

Because of the combination of loss of habitat from human overpopulation, as well as from poaching and trophy hunting, elephants may be extinct in the wild in a few decades. A few years ago, a sub-species of rhino became officially extinct - now it looks like elephants are heading in that same direction.

Some who have been among Trump's strongest supporters are not backing him this time.

The Trump administration's reversal of a ban on the import of trophy hunted animals from Africa has driven a wedge between the White House and a powerful Republican committee chairman.

On Friday, House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., slammed the decision by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, announced this week, to allow the importation of endangered African elephants killed for trophies in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

"Elephants and other big game in Africa are blood currency for terrorist organizations, and they are being killed at an alarming rate," Royce said in a statement.

What on earth is the point of this?

I get the impression that Trump spends his evening's sat on the toilet just thinking about every policy that Barack Obama implemented & how he can reverse them, even if it is plainly bonkers to do so.

I just don't see the point in this; I mean, how many people actually go over to Africa to shoot big game & bring their spoils back to the US?

I swear that Trump is mentally ill, because he clearly isn't stupid, because stupid people do not get to where he's got.

I will look further into this because I'm sure there is some point here that is not being covered perhaps in a certain place in Africa there is an overpopulation or something? No idea but I'll get back to you on this

That is sickening and Beyond heartless. It is why I try my best to never eat meat. People make a big deal when there is a mass shooting because it was human beings like them who died. But nobody cares then when they sit down to an all-you-can-eat buffet and they eat like 20 chicken wings or a bunch of lamb or beef will pork nobody thinks about how those animals were treated and caged and kept and how they were killed and how they suffered to be served on a plate for somebody's lunch. What an irony somebody could be sitting down gobbling up chicken wings and hamburgers and pork and bacon while at the same time tears could be streaming out of their face lamenting all of the murdered in Las Vegas for example. The ultimate in hypocrisy. That's why we should all be vegetarians

Recent Tweets suggest that he's changing his mind.

"Big-game trophy decision will be announced next week but will be very hard pressed to change my mind that this horror show in any way helps conservation of Elephants or any other animal."

Doesn't really sound like he's for it.
