OK I'm going to try out this new system and see how it goes

Training this last week has been ok but not great.

Only 3 runs for the week and 4 night sessions.

Had Judo Monday and Wednesday, Boxing Tuesday and Thursday.

Took Friday off as didn't feel great. I started to get a tight neck at boxing on Thursday night and wanted to stretch before I started training but Kristine had already started training when i got there so i felt obligated to get started ASAP.

Friday my body hated me. Took Saturday off since kristine wasn't opening the gym to train anyway and I still felt a bit under the weather.

Sunday an old jogging buddy from the country came up to visit me. We took turns pushing her pram while jogging for 45 mins together which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Judo is still going really well but It's making the platue I'm facing at boxing more clear. I want to learn more than I am and I'm not sure what my mental block is. Something to think about!

    OK uni has been insanely busy - I've camped out there overnight twice just trying to get through my work so training has been pretty poor.

    I can't honestly remember what i've done but basically i've only had about 4 boxing sessions and 4 runs and no weight training or swimming at all for the past 2 weeks!

    the busy period is still ongoing but not quite as mad now though so hopefully I'll be able to get some half normal training in.

  2. Thursday night, Friday training

    Thursday night went to boxing training. Had a round robin with 4 people - 1 min each round - 2 people in the ring and two out. It mwas normal sparring inside the ring and a bit of light partnerwork out. I'm not sure how long we did this but the time really flew.

    We got through a fair bit though. Coach Paul explained to Dennis how to pull hit punches on impact so that he didn't use the weight of his (very solid) hand against me. I think this was a new concept for Dennis and he seemed ...

    Well I think my last entry was the Snake Pit on Saturday - didn't have boxing training after that since Kristine wasn't opening up - something about renovations done on her house.

    Sunday training was cancelled for similar reasons. I used to to recover since I was tired enough to sleep most of the day Saturday and still a bit tired on Sunday. My flatmate has lost her voice from a killer flu so I'm thinking my immune system is probably just holding it off.

  4. The Snake pit

    Judo Friday arvo - went ok I guess. I had to work with other white belts which is never quite as good as working with higher belts but I know I'm no better than them anyway so it's only fair I get that!

    I did get help from a black belt for a while and that was good. He goes around and teaches everyone by example pausing at the key points sometimes and giving you a very visual reference and emphasizing the way things should feel rather than talking a lot.

  5. training this week

    Monday morning - did 5 km treadmill run at a moderate pace, then weights, then 20 min swim.

    Didn't go to judo. Had a family dinner instead only to be asked by my bro why I wasn't at Judo and he's the coach so he can do what he likes apparently!

    Tuesday morning - 30 min jog. Found my legs were a bit stiff and my strides a bit short. Loosened up over time. My strides were short but it felt different to the way it does when my back is out. I'm pretty sure it's ...

    Saturday night - ran home from uni. It was only about 40ish minutes but by the end of it my muscles felt it even though my heart rate was low. I guess for runs over 5 km my muscles like to have a winge now!

    Sunday Morning - went to get my run, weights and swim routine done but the gym part of the aquatic centre wasn't open. I really should get their hours written done at some stage!

    Ok - still caffiene free and getting fewer headaches which is good. I'm also eating less which I guess might be because I'm more hydrated.

    I think my body sometimes misinterprets thirst as hunger - hence my reputation for being a big eater!

  8. Training + Chiro Appointment

    Training last night was good. Warmed up by skipping 3 rounds then did rounds of chase with Kristine. We alternated jab defence only. Seems so wrong but now being chased with jab defence alone is easier than chasing using everything for both of us!

    We have plans to try something different with that next time. With warmup that took up about an hour. Worked 2 minute rounds with 30 second breaks.

    Then did 6 rounds on the bag. Stretched when i got home.

  9. More slackness

    Ok had Monday and Tuesday off. Very slack of me. I have no excuse. I think I was just tired the way you get when you've been training well but then you loose momentum because you have a break in your routine. Opps

    Plus I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the amount of uni work I have to do at the moment which probably means I shouldn't be on here so much.....

  10. Slack Easter

    Ok since getting a little pain in my shoulder on Tuesday I decided to take Wednesday and Thursday off completely.

    I have to confess though that being driven insane by noisy undergrad girls screaming on the early morning bus out to the field trial campus and back might have contributed a little to my decision. I'd normally sleep on that bus but just had no hope and with dusty work threshing wheat heads all week just felt a bit run down.
