Sitting ringside for fights

Posted 03-20-2008 at 12:59 AM by CutMeMick
Well I was thinking long and thinking hard of what in the feck! to blog about after a minute I said I got it.
"Ringside seats"

So with that being said here it is.

For me the most important thing about attending a 'major' fight (A major fight is if your gonna see one of your current fav. fighters or a World Title fight) is your seat.
You gotta try and be as close to the action as possible if by any chance the Ref. get's ill during the undercard fights speak up and take your shot at replacing the Ref.
As I was saying seat, I've been very blessed to have sat ringside for the most incredible fights of my time. It has been an honor and a pleasure to have witnessed these warriors give it their all. I'm always searching for upcoming events around my area and the second I see a card I like I quickly call the venue and see if they will be selling tickets.
I like ticketmaster and all BUT if the venue itself has tickets for sale you've got better chances of getting great seats thru them.
Know the sitting arrangements have a seating chart before you call that way you'll know exactly what you'll be buying.
Be 1st by that I mean if the tickets go on sale at 10:00 by 9:45 start dialing cause you know it will take you like 15 minutes to get through the automated voice system. When you call a venue be up beat but don't come across to strong. I always talk to the person as if they were my friends and I make conversation with them. I find that the times I've done that I've gotten the best seats possible. Don't settle for just any seats if they tell you seat:4 row:23 sec:2 ask them to please try for something better something in a closer row.

So now that you got your tickets. You gotta be ready for the event. 1st you wanna do is go out and buy a pair of Everlast glove and a Sharpie marker (you can also steal the sharpie from work I find that to be easier ) Clothes. You gotta be properly dressed if your gonna be ringside rubbing elbows with some celebs and boxing stars. Pick out a cool outfit nothing to up tight. No 3 piece suits, or tuxedos Camera ready. You gotta have your camera ready, an extra memory stick and depending on your battery life and extra battery.
The day of the event, expect the un-expected cause everything that you think can't go wrong will. Arrive as early as possible. I've found that I've had the opp. to meet most of the boxer's before I even walk into the venue cause you can catch them walking into the venue and or out and about walking around. You gotta be quick, the second you spot a boxer you wanna snap a picture with don't hesitate cause guess what? Someone else will be willing to step up and ask and next thing you know you'll be assed out without a picture or a signed glove/magazine. This happened to me twice once with James Toney and then with Fernando Montiel. So take your chance and get your autograph or pic. Be at your seat on time, one thing that I hate to see is all the empty seats for the most part of the undecard fights. Be on time and enjoy all of the fights keep in mind that young talent is always there and you might get a glimpse at a future champ and who knows a future GREAT. I myself have had the chance to see young fighters who were prospects some are now contenders who are now starting to make some noise I saw them when they had less then 10 fights. Fighters like: Librado Andrade, Enrique Ornelas, Giovanni Segura, Michael Marrone, Brandon Rios, Yohnny Perez, Jorge Paez Jr., Carlos De Leon Jr., Grzegorz Proksa, Antonio De Marco, Vanes Martirosyan, Leo Santa Cruz to name a few.

Allright... That's that. Next up I'll have to revive some of me old thread and will link them here.

Peace, Love and Respect.
Mick

I usually try and get there early but that's because I've paid a lot of money for those seats and I'm going to get my monies worth.

And yes you do get to bump in to the boxing glitterati. For the ladies. The idea is to look like you've made an effort but not so much that you look like a slapper or on the prowl wannabe boxers wife. You can spot them a mile off.

If you're in the cheap seats no one cares.

Great blog idea Mick, that was a nice and informative piece.

Just for me could you do a blog on how to dress cool. I like the way you have a different outfit for every occaision and always seem to having matching accessories that coordinate perfectly.

The only thing I've seen you wear more than once are your shades which being a trademark feature actually make you more memorable and give you character.

As an aspiring pua I think there is much I could learn from you and so hope you'll make this the subject of your next blog
