Yeah i've been called a pessimist but i think it's more of a misunderstood optimism. He said that basically the word autism is applied to anyone slightly different - he was telling me how some of the people he's looked after over the years have had almost 'super powers' of sight & hearing.

Certain areas of their brain dont function normally, but others function on a higher level alltogether.

He said one kid had sight so good, he could actually see fine dust wafting around in the air and used to manipulate it for hours.

He thought he was just making it up, until he once said 'big bit of dust' - and my mate looked closely at the kids finger nail and a tiny tiny tiny spec of dust was visible to him.

He also said he could 'taste colours' - different coloured rooms made flavours appear in the kids mouth! apparently purple tasted 'of metal'
