I'm having trouble jabbing fast while moving to the right during my heavybag drills (orthodox stance). I usually do jab-step left-jab quickly while moving LEFT but when I'm moving right, it becomes real slow and awkward. Any advice?

I find this often..It helps to move side to side and jab.. And of course moving to the left is easyer whilst throwing the jab.. But this is because you move forwards and to your left with the back foot..Bieng your right foot..You tend to push off of it when you fight orthadox..And it is awkward to move right and jab because you would have to have your weight on the front foot which puts you off balance...Originally Posted by Joboxing
Im not sure what either the trainers or the very knowledgable posters on here would tell you about ammending your movement while jabbing..
But personally i move to the left to jab.. Although you are moving somewhat towards the other fighters right hand.. movement is good while jabbing..As long as your jab comes right back to the chin and its shot out strait so's that when your arm is fully extended your chin is tucked in behind your jab.. Then its good for me..
I will usually move right after a jab..Moving right is for the purpose of circling your opponent and away from theyr power shot..The right hand..
So then as long as you are staying busy you are both out the way of the right hand..And are still in good place to parry theyr jab.. and good to see where theyr left hand is going for right hand counters..
But this is just my view on the matter.. Most is possibly not textbook stuff , and maybe not great advice.. But im sure if you hang about long enough greynotsoold can get at you.. This sounds like his sort of thing..

Youre having trouble because of eyes not balancing with your movement and distance. Elastic rope tied round bag and yourself, 3" longer than your jab when hitting the bag . Play ring around a roses with the bag youll soon pick it up
Pain lasts a only a minute, but the memory will last forever....
