Default Hatton - Pacman, If Hatton wins, will he be the p4p number 1?

Should ricky hatton beat manny pacquiao, would hatton be regarded as the new p4p number 1? I was just wondering about this and was intrested to know other peoples opinions.

I'd say no, I think he'd go back into the top 10 alright but would need a couple more big scalps, most likly he'd have to move up to get the big fights against Cotto, Mosley and Margarito which I don't think he would win...

People wouldnt want to give it to him because he got beat so soundly by Mayweather a year ago.

If Pacquiao is the p4p number one and has just beaten someone in a higher weight class than Ricky and then gets beaten by Ricky, it will then be a toss up between Calzaghe and Hatton for number one, when was the last time British boxing could say that?

The only reason Hatton wouldnt be is not because he wouldnt deserve it but because he would be begrudged it

Everyone here, or a big majority is singing Pacs praises, if he gets shot down by Hatton there will be excuses, like well Hatton is naturally stronger and De La Hoya was weight drained and tired, well if any of this is said if and when Hatton wins then should Pacquiao be ahead of Calzaghe right now?

No Hatton wont be p4p king if he wins Pacman! He will move in the top 6 but not number 1 imo.

I see, but isnt hatton already in the top ten p4p?

good points mate! i got the feeling that people would begrudge it to him aswell because of the mayweather defeat. But having said that, the pacman has been beaten 3 times and has 2 draws. It's all very confusing to work out isnt it! Maybe Calzaghe should be p4p number 1 right now just simply because he is undefeated.

You cant go to P4P number 1 in 1 fight especially if you are not even in the top 10 he needs to prove he can mix it at the top level, I don't think Hatton has the time left in his career to get to P4P 1

Yes sir! I think Ring Magazine has him at #10 if I'm not mistaken.

I think the same thing. If Hatton was already in the top 5, then yes he would be P4P #1 if he beats Pacquiao.

Calzaghe is def not P4P #1. There was a good case for him prior to Pac's year, but now, Pac has seperated himself from Joe.

    No he wouldn't.

Even if Ricky beats Pac that wouldn't prove he'd beat him in a P4P situation.. unless someone can prove 140 is Pac's best ever fighting weight

yeah id probably agree, although pacman vs JMM could have gone either way. OK so most people think that should hatton win he wont be p4p number 1, then that leaves the question who would be? would pacman still be number 1 because he is fighting a guy in a higher division or would it go to somebody else?

It would have to go to the next highest ranked which would be Joe
