    Default Are Judges ruining boxing.......

In the past few fights I've watched I've seen some dismal decisions and not only are they going the wrong way but the margin's are soooo wide. Look at Taylor v Spinks how on earth did a judge see that 117-111. Boxers nowadays are getting the wrong decisons and some people feel youl'l have to knock them out to win. Will boxing eventually have to come down to this?

I don't think the judges are the problem. They might be A problem but not THE problem. Subjective scoring is just how the sport works and I don't think there should be any changes unless there is a real definitive improvement available.

A lot of people have been talking about this recently with the PBF - DLH and the Spinks - Taylor fights but IMHO I think the end result was right. PBF and Taylor won their fights. Nither of the fights were complete blow outs, nobody dominated the other. But the guy who deserved to win got the decision. You have to remember, as Harold Ledderman always says, there is a strong emphasis on clean punches. PBF and Taylor clearly landed the cleaner punches and that is that.

if you are going to complain about judges, you have to have a suggestion that is better.

My suggestion, if it goes the distance it's a loss for both fighters. At least that would force them to fight, and would be much fairer than the current system whereby the fight victory is awarded to the guy deemed by most to have lost the fight.

That would mean that 70% of all big name fights and 80% of all title bouts would end with both guys losing.

Not if they knew what would happen if they didn't KTFO the other guy before the fight's over.
