    Default hagler vs mcclellan

has this been dicussed before anyway who would win? id have to say McCLELLAN ...both guys can bang but gerald could box also,i feel if hagler hurt mcclellan,g-man could dance his way out of danger until his head cleared and pump that jab in haglers face until it resembled a hamburger....but if gerald hurt hagler, hagler would have to much pride to retreat also he cant fight on the back foot and get koed! ...........HAVE UR SAY!

yes i know haglers greater but mcclellan didnt get the oppertunity to acheive greatness, but i believe he was on hes way,and from what ive seen of him,he could beat hagler IMO ..mcclellan had the power advantage and had good overall boxing ability..hagler was nothing more than a come foward pressure fighter with no head movement,he was not hard to hit

Hagler would have crushed McClellan like a roach.

Don't understand why everyone rates McClellan so high - he was nothing special.

I had to chuckle, Hagler couldnt fight on the back foot. Oh yes he could watch some of his early fights, being right sided it was easy to move the front foot. At the time of the Ben fight it was known that McClellan had been badly Kod in sparring twice in Miami the previous month by another S/middle the writing was on the wall.

    Hagler by KO

That hard sparring led my trainer to believe that G-Man was injured even before the Benn fight, Benn just worsened it

Apart from devestating power McCllellen was an avrage fighter in most other areas. When you totaly relly on power you get caught out sooner or later.

Hagler on the other hand was excelent in every way and his rock like chin would canncel out McClellens power just like in his fight with John Mugaby.

    Hagler in 8-10 rounds.

Hagler made good fighters look bad.. He was that good. He would have stopped Gerald in round 5 or so. I feel bad saying this in light of what happened to Gerald. I think Gerald was a heck of a fighter and a good man. This does not diminish him at all. I am just talking about him fighting Marvin Hagler. Hagler was a tough order for everyone. How Ray Leonard beat him shows how great Ray was and how Ray coming in with complete knowledge of Hagler knew he would not go for a knockout, so he boxed boxed boxed. You cannot fight Hagler with the idea of going toe to toe with him for even 5 seconds.

i think hagler would have stopped G man mid way. Dont forget Marvin fought devastating punchers like Hearns and Mugabi when past his peak. I think a peak Hagler would give McClellan angles with his southpaw stance before opening up.

I think McClellan, Benn, and Roy Jones Jr. all had the power to knock a guy like HAgler out... I think Hagler beats McClellan more often than not, but if McClellan catches him clean... he's out, and I believe that if McClellan got to fight for a few more years he would have become a better fighter than HAgler.
