So i just noticed something about americans..
Sorry Lyle my man .. but you will be my example....
in a post of lyles i read something about... ego, and it mentioned yes theres also ego here in america too..
he then said, its just i find it funnier when its said with your accent..?! or something to that effect.

Do we really have the accent, because the way ive always thought about it, is that we english.. made the language and we speak english.. obviously most just speak as they do just plain english and there are certain places around england that have different accents but really most english have a normal way of speaking our language...
and so obviously americans speak english.. but are not english, are american, and in my mind i always thought... american have the accent and english speak the original version. (bar all the people with varied accents from around the country, i.e londoners, brummies, cats from devon. bla bla
anyway... i guess i just found it funny reading that some people feel that it is english that have the accent and not yourself the american that has adapted the english language with your accent and or slang rather then vice versa...

Americans for one, have removed most if not all our Norman ancestry from its language (Colour to Color... Litre to Liter, Recognise to Recongnize etc).

English is a mix of different languages (Norman, Danish, Roman etc).

American English has been simplified to better suit its pronunciation.... This does not make it Real English at all....

Indian languages of course were not influenced by Latin...and I doubt Japanse or Chinese were influenced either

Ok Jim. It was meant as a bit of a joke. I should of put car for saloon and western germanic language heavly influenced by French and Latin.

French wasn't adopted by everyday folk- even King William tried to learn old English, mostly to get a bigger hold on the masses. French was the language of court, administration and culture ie only posh folk spoke it and commoners used the odd word to sound posh.Things haven't changed all that much in a thousand years.

The Scottish lowlanders were speaking Scots (Rabbie Burns) derived from old English and the Teuchters (highlanders) were speaking gaelic. Throw in some Scandinavian, French, Latin and Flemish.

Don't know too much about the Welsh apart from they colonised parts of Patagonia. There's South American indians running around speaking in Welsh.
