    Default The hbo fallouts...

So most will know that hbo seems to fall out with alot of people..
George foreman used to do commentating with merchant and lampley..And since i dont have hbo and am not in america..I never either knew he didnt work for hbo anymore.. or wouldnt realise since i didnt see the fights weekly...
And roy jones had a fallout with hbo too..he doesnt fight on hbo and he doesnt commentate anymore..

So what was it all about.. I read something about the roy jones thing a while back but remember nothing anymore..But i have a feeling it wasnt all that serious..But i couldnt find anything on the foreman fallout apart from a video of lampley getting interviewed by jose aguire( if thats spelt right)..
And it was right after tito- mayorga ..The very last question was just..' do you miss working with george foreman' ..And lampley said very sternly and bluntly..No.. and the vid ended..

So can anyone explain what happened to me?
    Peace

    Good question, BHB

I'd like to know the answer to this myself.

Good question, I didn't even realise they had fallen out with Big George.

Foreman seems at surface value at least to be one of the most affable and easy to get along with guys in boxing, I would have thought he would be great company to be around.

If he did fall out with Lampley, going on Lampleys track record as a wife beater then I'd side with Big George :P

I know they let Roy Jones go though, I remember them being annoyed by the fact that he would turn up late on the night, and would not be around for rehearsals and pre fight briefings.

I don't miss Jones much but I did like old George.

They have Lennox now who to my mind is just utterly pointless. He doesn't say anything of any value of kind whatsoever, in fact when they ask him a question you already know exactly how he will answer it, usually by way of a mumbling contradiction.

I'd much rather they ditched Lewis in favour of George Foreman.

But ultimately I would like James Toney to be a commentator, now that would make for some real interesting banter :P

Toney, Peter and Gatti would make an awesome team of commentators.

Seiroulsly though...I never knew that HBO & Foreman fell out.

As far as Jones goes...bilbo is close to be on spot for this one but Jones also got the boot because of his "animal cruelty" public image.

They told him to stop "cock fighting" ...& he pretty much told 'em all to suck it!

Yeah who knows. No matter what issues came up with Big George or Roy, they were both great to have there imo. Foreman wasn't exactly on point with most of his comments as Roy was, but he was entertaining, and as for Jones.. I thought he often gave some great insight. THey need someone who has been in the ring no question, but Lennox for me is a useless turd when it comes to commentating. SO boring. Emmanuel Steward is a bit dissapointing as well imo, considering how much knowledge the guy obviously has.. Roy was a great analyst for HBO I think, best they've ever had.

None of them were fully employed by HBO as announcers....they worked on a fight by fight basis....From what I understand about George they had some negative feed back from fans about George being biased during announcing....

I remeber Foremans last broad cast, he said he was retiring from HBO in order to return to the Ring(which never happened)

As for Jones, he was fired for his no shows and tardyness.

I wasn't shedding any tears when Foreman left. He said something that made sense about once every five fights.

I duno, I always thought Foreman said things that made no sense whatsoever. He and Merchant used to argue all the time.
I thought Roy Jones always did a good job, for what it's worth.
