Default 11 World Champions and rising - UK fighters on a mission

What a year its been for British fighters, we have 11 current World Champions including the new Heavyweight champ.
I see even more going on to win titles in 2016 so British Boxing is in a very healthy place right now.
If you think about it then a lot of this has come off the back of the 2012 London Olympics and everyone seems to have stepped up since.
You only have to look at Saturdays line up at the O2 in London to see how things have progressed.
Things are looking very good indeed.

More than any other country in the world.

The 2012 Olympics weren't just great for Britain but all boxing. So many now talented pro's came out of it. Guys like Errol Spence and Felix Verdejo - touted as future "world" champs" - didn't even get medals.

Never realized that and with this list below of fighters on the fringe it's all good!

Tony Bellew, George Groves, Nathan Cleverly, Paul Butler, Kevin Mitchell, Chris Eubank Jr, Steven Smith, Brian Rose, Josh Warrington, Luke Campbell, Derry Mathews, Amir Khan, Ricky Burns and Calum Smith.
Maybe even throw Dillian Whyte into that mix.

For the record there's a good few of these fighters who I think will 100% win world titles sooner rather than later.

With such success hopefully they will start fighting the best fighters in their divisions. I mean 11 world champions and only Fury fought the best guy. A faded version of the best guy. I understand this post will sound negative but it's really not. I'm saying Kell Brook is a good fighter, he should show it otherwise he's not really a champ. Rigo is waiting for 2 "champs", hell, 3. If you have such good fighters you should take on the best, not be maneuvered. Many of these 11 are ready to try and be real champions.

Right now it just looks like Brit boxing gets great support so they are easy to maneuver well. They bring the money so they get the right opportunities. But to be a true champion you have to take on the best.

There's 17 weight divisions. Ignoring interim champs there's around 70 "world" champs. Of those 70 no more than a tiny handful can claim to be the best in the division, regardless of where they come from.

So to say the Brits "need to fight the best to prove they're a true champion" is irrelevant. As the same applies to every other current "world" champion.

    Fury - Heavyweight
Kovalev - Light Heavy (Stevenson could argue)
Canelo - Middleweight (pathetic, as every hardcore fan knows Golovkin is the best middleweight)
    Rigo - Super Bantam
    Chocalito - Flyweight

That's it. There's not a standout champion in any other division.
