Default I am a true Joe Calzaghe fan but am disgusted

Not because Joe and Enzo are talking like its 1998 and Roy Jones isnt shot to bits, not because Joe expressed that he would never fight Roy in his book.

But because of the way they are talking its all about money, hey Joe you made enough easy money after you fought Eubank in 97 up until Lacy in 05. And a lot of that money was mine! i was so glad when Joe stepped up and beat Lacy then Kessler then Hopkins.

There was one obvious fight left a fight we are all screaming for a fight that style wise would be an epic thats a Calzaghe v Pavlik swansong fight right? WRONG!

Joe and Enzo have this week done everything they can to play down Pavlik and what he has done, and get this Foxnews style have tried to spin that Roy Jones is still the legend he was late 90s.

Comon get real all boxing fans know there is only one fight and it isnt Roy Jones who is 5yrs past shot. Its disgraceful that Joe is cashing out after wasting 7yrs of his prime fighting WBO (Warren) madatories and faded ex champions.

I had hoped to see Joe in his last bout, but if indeed it is Jones and after the rhetoric that i have heard i would not pay to see that fight if it was 2mins down the road.

Joe and Enzo you are not kidding anybody by trying to tell us Roy Jones is anything but a shambolic shell, shame on you!

Yes I do agree a fight with Pavlik really would cement that legacy and god it would make me happy. I hope he can realize it. but that fight really is a risk for JC, a risk that he does need to take though. He can beat Pavlik though and thats the annoying thing about him not fighting him.

The only way to beat Calzaghe is to force him to move foward and start attacks. Joe loves guys that come to him and he also loves a tear up.

Taylor would be a tougher fight than Pavlik and hopefully Joe sees sence and fights Kelly istead of Jones, who was once great but is gone completely gone.

Just like mayweather, people jump at the first chance to take a shot at calzaghe

Its funny how no one is willing to even wait and see what happens?

In his entire career, Pavlik has had one imprssive win, knocking taylor out in the first fight. Now don't get me wrong, i think calzaghe should fight him before he retires, i would be very very dissapointed if he doesn't.

But he hasn't retired yet. He stands to make an insane amount of money for fighting Roy jones Jr, a fight most would expect him to win.

Why risk blowing a huge pay day by fighting taking pavlik first and maybe not coming through with the win? Calzaghe isn't washed up, but he sure as hell isn't in his prime. So the natural is, Roy Jones, build up the Pavlik fight then retire.

The more people think they wont get the fight, the bigger it can be when it happens. Promoting 101.

No one seems to care Pavlik has a date set to fight Mora so fast though, that was done vry quick when there are fighters out there like AA, or a step up with Kessler on the cards.

Easy tiger, i am and always will be a fan of Joe Calzaghe.

I have been to a dozen of his fights over the last decade. If Joe fights Jones then Kelly Pavlik great but if Jones is his last fight i would be gutted. Like i said there is only one fight for Joes legacy wise and its Pavlik, Roy Jones is utterly shot and will be 40yo when they meet.

Its all about the $$ which is a shame Joe made enough 97-05 fighting old fighters and mandatories although i put half the blame on Warren.

Joe is at the twilight of his career and he wants to make big money, he is the best super middle and is cashing in on his best victories against Lacy and Kessler. He says one last fight, but if he decisively beats RJJ, my bet is he will be tempted with one real last fight with Pavlik, if the money is right and it will be in the US. All Joe is saying to Pavlik and anyone else is - Show me the money!

I like Calzaghe, and I actually look forward to seeing him against Roy Jones. I don't mind him bowing out with that fight, hell I even remember writing a few times on this site that Roy Jones would be a good farewell fight. And I remember writing that already last year, after which I actually think Jones' stocks have risen.

But to say Pavlik only has had one impressive win is stupid. Both Taylor (2nd fight) and Miranda would be right up there among Calzaghe 5 best wins. Also, IMO, it would make a lot more sense if Enzo/Joe stopped using the 'deserving'-argument, and just stated that Pavlik is fighting two divisions below Joe, and therefore not a realistic opponent as this time.

Thank god for what was written in the thread. I thought it was going to say you were disgusted with him for leaving Warren after all this time.
