I think he can, I picked Mares over Donaire even before both lost. I think it's a fantastic fight to make
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
ya. ive always said that donaire was scared of mares. mares had the unfortunate KO1 loss but he will come back from it and get back on track. mares is the most underrated boxer in boxing today.
Scared? lol Philipine's greatest aint scared of no one especially some midget like Mares who got dogged out in one round by Jhonny..
I see two scenarios..
1. Nonito gets outworked to a decision loss
2. Mares up on the cards then eats a left hook and goes to sleep
If Mares gets hit with the same left hook like the one he took from Jhonny, he might die... Nonito is crazy with it..
Very possible.. Considering how Nonito has been looking lately, he can definitely get outworked..
I mean Vic of all people was outpointing him and Mares has a high workrate.. He can do better if Nonito's head isn't in the right place..
Too much is going on in Nonito's life..
first off, dont underestimate jhonnys power. it is very good. he caught mares with a perfect punch and mares still got up. i actually think that he could have survived the round if the ref didnt stop the fight after the second knockdown.
also, donaire is good but has been overrated for years. donaire usually fights guys that arent really that great. he ducked rigo and mares for years. when he finally fought rigo, we saw what happened. both of those fights were talked about and both called out donaire.
I think Donaire would stop him. I like Mares but people are making out like Donaire is on some sort of rapid decline and I don't see that.
I think that was a good stoppage. Mares was pretty fubar. He could not walk straight or answer the ref. I remember it as I'm a big Mares fan and didn't expect that outcome. I think if Mares meets Donaire Mares would have success but it shouldn't be until after he has a tune up fight or two.
If I'm an Espinoza, I'd be clamouring for that fight and I'll be sure to tell Frankie Jr myself. I kinda think Donaire has blown his wad.
Mares really has to see where his heads at and how he comes back. Both of these guys suffered from the same downfall in a way with inflated egos and thinking stepping through the ropes won them half the fight. Much more Donaire and his inability to adjust, even in the Darchinyan rematch was glaring. Ultimately what got him in that mental fog in the first place...waiting on big power alone...pulled it out. If he doesn't strip himself down and retool to fundamentals and stop thinking he's some Anime action star I think he'll get beat again. Mares if anything had the fortune of being 'one & done' if however brutal and has shown adaptability and ok boxing up to that point. I think he has the ability to come back further than Donaire but time will tell.
I agree 100% with that assessment. Nonito has fallen in love with his power and seems to have lost some desire to organically set things up. At featherweight, it appears Mares has some chin issues and Nonito can bang. I probably lean to Donaire by stoppage. Good fight though.
Donaire by KO, Mares is good but Donaire would bring his “A” game and win convincingly.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Not like Nonito looked sharp in last fight and had his opponent had a longer reach he would have lost like Mares. Jonny's punch would have put Nonito to sleep too. Good fight now But should have happened before the Nonito hype escalated. Should be speaking about Nonito fighting a tall stong fighter instead of being the shrimp slayer. Should be talking about him fighting Gonzalez
