I didn't expect this, but it's a good fight to happen. Hope Lee can pull off the upset

So he drops the WBO and the biggest payday of his life against a guy that according to him he would have beaten anyway and now will be the challenger for the WBO. Another graduate of MENSA.

Quillen is mediocre anyway, like Lee.

Neither are anywhere near mediocre! They are both very dangerous, if a notch below the elite skill wise. I agree with @brocktonblockbust, you are a hungry man.

You don't feel silly saying "I agree with rocktonblockbust"? Isn't his whole shtick that he isn't serious about anything he says?

I'll be more specific. If the division wasn't weak for the last 20 years and was good neither should ever hold a title. They are good fighters but it's a testament to the fact boxing is in a lull that either has ever been a champion. They should be gatekeepers, that is their level but middleweight is light on talent and has been for a very long time.

Hell, I'll go on. Sam Soliman never should have been a world champion, this older shot version of Jermain Taylor never should have been a world champion. I love Cotto but he never should have been a MW champion.

I reckon he did it for some reasons; 1) Haymon told him to, the new TV deal wasn't ready at the time of the defence so he told him to vacate instead. 2) He said in an interview it gives him the opportunity to become a two weight world champion. 3) He also said in the interview that he was having family problems and he wasn't in the right place to defend his title. 4) Haymon wouldn't have wanted to work with a Roc nation maybe?

Adios Andy, it's been real. Pete Quillen might not have the best sense when it comes to management of his career but he's certainly tough enough to KO Andy Lee who is only in this position because he landed a Hail Mary punch on Julian Jackson's son.

Andy has way more experience and has fought better competition overall. This is supposed to be a made to order Al Haymon moment but its not out of the question that Andy never read the script. And El Andy is here because he fought the guy Quillin refused to fight and knocked him out. The only southpaw he ever faced was a spent Winky and he's never been clocked by a puncher like Lee.

Andy doesn't fight smart, he doesn't control distance well enough and on the inside he's very vulnerable. Pete is athletic, he's strong, he's fast, he's powerful, and he's got a good chin. We've seen Andy's ceiling...it's below Pete

Not a bad scrap style wise at all. Thinking Quillin gets him out late, left hooks beating Andy's neon sign loaded right hand.

Weird thing is Lee landed the hail mary punch against the guy Quillin didn't want to face too. Which kind of adds to a the mystery of it. If its a close your eyes and swing thing for Lee, he's had a lot of success with it. At a certain point you kind of have to say it's deliberate over desperation, no? Lets hope theres one more in there. I'd love to see crazy legs quillin chase lee with a hammer and get stretched, maybe it it will knock some sense into him about his management.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
