Never a fan but no glee found in a fighter struggling in dire straits and hurt badly in aftermath. Hope he makes a full recovery and gets out of the sport whole.
Boxer Adonis Stevenson remains in a critical condition in hospital after 11th-round knockout defeat by Oleksandr Gvozdyk
The 41-year-old's promoter, Yvon Michel, has confirmed his boxer is still in intensive care
Adonis Stevenson remains in a critical condition in hospital following his knockout defeat by Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Saturday’s WBC light-heavyweight world title fight.
The Canadian collapsed in his changing room after being brutally stopped in the 11th round by Ukraine’s Gvozdyk.
The 41-year-old – nicknamed Superman – was rushed to a nearby hospital, and placed in intensive care.
Giving an update on his condition on Sunday evening, Stevenson’s promoter, Yvon Michel, revealed the 41-year-old remains in a serious condition under “careful medical supervision.”
He wrote on Twitter: From the whole family of Adonis, his wife Simone God and GYM (Groupe Yvon Michel), thank you for your many messages of encouragement and support. #Superman is currently under careful medical supervision of very competent doctors in a controlled environment.”
The World Boxing Council offered their ‘prayers’ for Stevenson’s recovery.
Stevenson famously beat Tony Bellew in 2013 to defend his WBC title.
Defeat to Gvozdyk saw him relinquish the belt after five years.

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
If allegations like this are true, I really couldn’t care less what happens to him. It’s not a matter of taking satisfaction from it, I’m just not remotely interested in his well being one way or another. I guess selfishly i hope he recovers just because every incident like this leads to the chance boxing will get softer and we won’t get the chance to see the undertaker before long.
You can die or be killed doing any damn thing, boxing is no different.
I think that age was a big factor in this. He is 41 and hasn’t had much competition in some years, so fighting somebody with a pulse that can punch does damage. Also, it’s much worse when it happens in later rounds. If it had happened in the first few rounds then he would have probably been alright, but when the fatigue sets in it gets worse.
I hope he pulls through ok. This has essentially ended his career. Gvozdyk turned out to be superman's kryptonite.
