Re: Prograis v Relikh - Donaire v Young DAZN
The semifinals for the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) season 2 will showcase some amazing talent with undefeated American WBC Interim champion Regis Prograis (23-0, 19 KOs) fighting in front of his hometown fans in Louisiana when he faces off against WBA champion Kiryl Relikh (23-2, 19 KOs) for a spot in the final and a chance to win the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
"The World Boxing Super Series is great not only for me, but for the sport,” Prograis said in a recent press release statement. “I saw what it did for Oleksandr Usyk winning all the belts, so I know what is possible. Winning the tournament would mean that I’m the legitimate best in the world at 140 pounds.”
Beating Terry Flanagan convincingly via a unanimous points decision in New Orleans last year, the WBC interim champion faces a tough opponent in Relikh, who overcame Eduard Troyanovsky (27-2, 24KOs) via unanimous decision in the last round.
"He is a strong dude, comes forward, but I just think if I fight like I did against Flanagan there is nobody that can come close to me," Prograis said.
He added: “Just like the amateurs, where you can’t duck anybody, it’s excellent to have fights lined up back-to-back. It’ll be a busy season, but it’ll be worth it. In the aftermath of the tournament, I should get a lot of big opportunities for a lot of big fights."
Also, in action will be WBA champion Nonito Donaire (39-5, 25 KOs) vs. WBO champion Zolani Tete (28-3, 21 KOs) in the bantamweight division semifinal.
Regis Prograis vs. Kiryl Relikh will fight at the Cajundome Arena in Lafayette, Louisiana. The 13,500-seater multi-purpose arena is also home to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s basketball programs.
