And there is another tough guy who lurks by the name of Adrian “The Shark” Diaconu.
If Dawson is Calzaghe‘s next opponent (assuming Joe fights on), will his style be made to order for the Pride of Wales? Will he be able to cope with Joe’s constant pressure (remember how Chad struggled in the Johnson fight), remarkable stamina (which allows for incredible punch volume which allows for taking an opponent out of his game), and his superior ring IQ?
Chad did not listen to his corner to "be careful" when he came out for the 12th round agaiint Tarver. While he showed a fighter's mentality, he also gave Tarver a chance to jolt him in the last minute, albeit with punches that lacke damaging pop. That told ME something and I'm sure Joe saw it as well.
Time will tell if Bad Chad is the new king in town--one who can clear out a light-heavyweight division which some say is now full of “aging legends.” I'm not yet sold that he can....not yet.
Ted,
What hype are you talking about?
You gotta be kidding... BCD and the word hype don't belong together.
You've wanna talk hype.
Michael Grant
Francisco Bojado
Paul Gonzalez
Mike Quarry
These guys were all hyped up and never delievered.
Shit! off the top of my head I can't name you another HARDCORE Dawson fan besides myself. By hardcore I mean has seen more then just his fights from the Adamek fight and on....
I've seen 25 out of 28 BCD fights, been following his career since 2004/5.
I'll be the 1st to tell you he is FAAAAR from hype.
The only reason why you are suddenly hearing a lot about him now is because of the quality of opposition he is fighting and more important because he can be Joes farewell fight. So if your hearing a lot about him is because some people think he's got a shot at beating Joe.
I've made a short assesment on the way I think Joe vs. BCD would go...
I'd back BCD to win but I think ultimately Joe beats him because I think BCD does all the things Joe needs him to do to win.
- Sit on the ropes
- Have lapses
- Inactive rounds
With those 3 things Joes got the fight in the books.
BCD can beat Joe but IMO he would have to correct those 3 things in order to do so. Chances are he probably wont do it from 1 fight to another.
Ted, when I 1st starting talking about BCD here I was told he had no power, he was to methotical, he had a glass chin and at that time believe it or not he was fighting at Middleweight. I was told Sturm would beat him, Abrahm was starting to make noise also and I was told AA would KO him, JT would school him all night.
Well here we are yrs. later and the kids moved up in weight he's only 26 and already has some top caliber names on his resume.
Adamek whom at the time he beat was considered #1 or #2 by most ratings. Glen Johnson and Tarver.
You gotta love the fact that the kids already established himself as a premier boxer.
I think you titled this thread wrong, because honestly if you look around there is no BCD hype. Shit there's not even a full wagon here of fans and I mean fans not people who started liking him after he captured a title.
The kids def. got the skills and I do agree with what you say on your post but 100% disagree with you that there is a BCD hype.
