What's so interesting about it?
It's incredible to think that it's the same person really.. With other great fighters you can usually see the signs early on, watching this for the first time who would imagine that Pacquiao was even remotely one to look out for.. He does almost nothing promising that I see, truly amazing the way he has evolved as a fighter. Even to watch him against Ledwaba or Barrera where he was largely one dimensional, he is LEAPS ahead of himself here as far as athletecism and punching form etc.
The punching power, speed, stamina and fury is what he has always had. The straight left was always he's weapon. That one weapon was good enough along with his attribute to destroy his earlier oppenents.
Freddy "Dr.Frankenstien" Roach took that young pacquiao and turn him into a monster.
this fight was 11 years ago. pacquiao koed this guy in the 8th round and got his 1st ever world championship and lineal title. interesting fight.
It's like talking about finding a weakness into Gollum when he used to be Smeagol.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
Pac improves because of the quality of opposition he faces.
He faced great/good counterpunchers on jmm (2) mab (2) em and cotto
boxer brawlers on em (3), mab (2), cotto, ledwaba, larios, de la hoya
in fighters on hatton and sanchez (R.I.P.)
pressure fighters on diaz, and hatton.
good boxers on em (3), sasakul, ledwaba, jmm(2) de la hoya and cotto.
great punchers on hussein, cotto, hatton, de la hoya.
All these fighters on different weight divisions and pac learned well, of course, with the guidance of roach. Now as we know he has evolved from the left hand-happy guy to a guy who thinks inside the ring and can box and brawl as well.
Agreed.
I bought 4 career sets early this year, Pacquiao, Maywethaer, Mosley and Juan Manny Marquez.
3 out of 4 of those fighters don't look any different in their primes than what they did in their 1st couple of fights.
Manny Pacquiao was horrible to watch as a novice. In retrospect that's a great thing (as far as the story goes) but i wouldn't of even bothered with him if the attached fight was here and now.
Thanks for vid Ice.

Original & Best: The Sugar Man
The biggest improvement I see in Pac-man is his balance during his flurries. He used to punch to fast for his feet and used to have to take a step forward with his left foot after his punches were done to maintain balance. Now everthing is in lockstep and it is showing up in his power.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
I agree his footwork has improved significantly. Hes using those angles and puching in them really well. Thats hard to defend against but harder to implement against a guy who fights off his backfoot like Mayweather.
