Yeah, I could whoop his ass too ,but you;ll never find out for sure, cause I aint going to call out or face Floyd either.

It's ok to believe that. I can't say that with 100% confidence, because I can see Floyd frustrating Manny at times. But I will say that if Floyd fought Manny the way he just fought Cotto theres now way Floyd wins on points. He just doesn't throw enough punches to squeak out a win that way. Manny has a better chance of beating Floyd more than anyone Floyd has faced.

I think the people thinking Cotto won or it was close must have been watching on dodgy streams. Anybody want to speculate why Floyd spent so much time on the ropes? Becasue his legs have gone or just to show everybody how good he is?

Styles make fights. Just because Pac beat Hatton earlier than Floyd does not mean he will Pac would beat him. Pac stopped Cotto but Floyd didnt. If I was to make a bet I would put my money on Floyd. But what you see from that fight is that Floyd doesnt like pressure. Pac could pressure all the way through and throws much harder punches. Floyd will have to fight all the way and throw more back to slow him down.
As far as this fight goes it was pretty much as predicted. Floyd winning by about 6 rounds.

Pacquiao won't be as competitive as Cotto.
Agreed. Pac makes far too many mistakes.
Exactly. Pac wouldnt ever of stood and delivered like that. He would get caught moving around erratically by a gun.

    Cotto fought bravely.

I will say that Floyd sealed the deal in the 12th round

Not a bad fight, Cotto did what he had to do, try to make a brawl out of, but Floyd was up to the task.

I would have loved to see Cotto win, but Mayweather showed he's still a hell of a fighter.

You guys are trying to compare a guy who at times fights erratic and without a superior defense (PAC) to Cotto who fights very measured and has a really good defense.

Also you must have forgot Floyd moved up and fought a full fledged Cotto not a freeze dried one 10+ pounds lighter like PAC starved him too

Martinez would mash Floyd based on this

Quintana - Latimire was a good one, the other 2 weren't really worth watching.

Martinez didn't look overly great vs Barker, Macklin, he had to rally vs Macklin as he was losing the fight.

That is such a lame analysis. I believe that Mayweather hadn't stepped up and fought Pacquiao earlier because Pacquiao used to be less predictable. Every fighter says nearly the same think that the angles is what troubled them. Pacquiao is a southpaw not the same as Cotto so you can't really apply because "Pacquiao is less technically sound he's a less effective than Cotto against a pure boxer like Mayweather". In fact, because Pacquiao's fighting technique not traditional it makes him more difficult to fight.

He rallied in round 7 and from then on he put on a spanking. Moreever if there was any justice in the world Macklin would have came in the ring as a champion himself. That aside, why is it frowned upon if a champ overcomes?

That aside I do think Mayweather Martinez would truly be intriguing like when Duran fought Hagler.

The thing is with Floyd, he's damn hard to get clean, hard shots on, Cotto had most of his success with his jab and short punches, some of his body work wasn't bad either.

G'night folks, thanks to you who participated in the fight thread.
