I reckon Cotto will wreck Canelo, Cotto has a few more fights before the tank is empty and a fight with Canelo is definitely a possibility. If i was handling Canelo and Cotto's people were calling i would lose the connection very quickly. Cotto wins a UD or late stoppage.
Its a different fight all together. You can garentee that Cotto will land alot more punches in a fight against Alvarez than aginst mayweather but he will also get hit with plenty more than the floyd fight as well. He seemed to slow in the Margo fight more than the Floyd fight to me. Makes me think hes a fighter that slows more from punches than his own work rate. A bit like Khan.

Canelo wrecks Cotto. Size and power would be the deciding factor in this fight. And they favor Alvarez

I think its a done deal. Same card. Pr/Mex rivalry and Oscar frothing at the mouth.

Report on ring mag says Golden Boy is trying to make Albarez-Paul Williams next (Sept). Probably entertaining but I don't think it's competitive at this point. And if they're going to match him with someone else before Cotto, I'd have preferred Kirkland.

I don't think there would be much difference between Williams or Kirkland there aside from the fashion in which they were beaten down. They are both pure foooood for Alvarez at this point and neither of them would be able to make it interesting imo.

I gave Cotto rounds 6, 8 and 9 with 10 possibly even. (I hate scoring even rounds), but in a close round i gave it to Floyd. How you could have Cotto winning the fight at the end of round 6 is staggering! I still had it 117-111 at the finish with a concession that it could've been 116-112. Cotto just didn't land enough.
I've watched it a few times and scored it 117-111 but 116-112 is also a fair score.

If they want to make Cotto-Alvarez... the time is NOW. Giving Alvarez other fights before Cotto just plays into the age advantage. Alvarez is 21, whereas Cotto has already passed his physical peak. If they fight each other next, Cotto schools Alvarez.

Floyd IMO won clearly but he didn't win EASILY, i had it 7-5 then 8-4, either way he had to work all 12 rounds, something he hasn't been forced to do in a long time, it was a great fight and BOTH men deserve credit, Floyd for stepping it up and grinding out the win, and Cotto for showing up and earning his paycheck rather than just collect it and lay down, fuck anyone who thinks it was a cake walk

Both are good fights and will present different challenges to Canelo. Isn't it funny that it is widely accepted that Molina beat Kirkland and Lara beat Williams, yet, it is Williams and Kirkland, not Lara or Molina, getting the Canelo fight.

after re-watching the 12th round i'd like to change my previous statement.

floyd could have KO'd him anytime he wanted...in the last 67 seconds of the 12th.

You ask Lara who he rather see fight Alvarez. Kirkland or Molina? He'll say Kirkland. Ask Molina who he'll rather see fight Alvarez. Williams or Lara? He'll say Williams. When you got a young fighter like Alvarez about to headline his first PPV you gonna put him in with a fighter that's gonna provide excitement. It's what makes sense. And there's no denying the fact that Kirkland's seek and destroy style and Williams 150 punches a round are more exciting to watch than Molina clinch and hold and Lara's one punch at a time style

It sounds like the perfect match up, i hope it happens this year. Canelo had trouble with a 40 year old Mosley, Cotto is a different beast with a bit left in the tank yet.

No doubt Cotto has more left than Mosley. A lot more. But one thing about Mosley is he always could take a good punch. Certainly better than Cotto could. I don't see Cotto taking as many flush shots as Mosley did

It is even worse than that for Molina.

Molina beats Cintron; Cintron still gets fight against Canelo
Molina beats Kirkland; Kirkland is in the discussion for Canelo

Lara beating williams; Williams in discussion for Canelo

Molina or Lara are a much tougher test for Canelo. Molina is awkward. Lara is a skilled southpaw.

Canelo's team avoding both like the plague in favor of a brawler (Kirkland) or a guy who used to win solely on length, chin, and volume (PW).
