CHAMPION HARRISON ARRESTED

WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison was in police custody on Sunday after an incident in a pub at the weekend.

It is understood that officers used CS gas to restrain the featherweight during the incident.

The 29-year-old, from Cambuslang, near Glasgow, was arrested along with two other men after officers were called to the Counting House in the city centre.

On Sunday the boxer's promoter Frank Maloney said he was aware of the matter, but declined to make any comment.

A police spokeswoman said on Sunday: "Three men aged, 20, 29 and 30 have been arrested and are detained in police custody following a disturbance in a public house on St Vincent Street at about 5.40pm yesterday."

Harrison and the other two will appear in the city's sheriff court on Monday. They were taken to nearby Stewart Street Police station in the aftermath of the incident.

The fighter is currently in training to defend his WBO world title against Mexican Martin Honorio in Belfast next month.

It is believed the trio had been drinking before police were called to the pub.

Harrison is seen as the best Scottish fighter to emergence since lightweight greats Jim Watt and Ken Buchanan.

He won his world title in October 2002 after beating Argentine Julio Pablo Chacon in Glasgow.

After surprisingly losing the belt in July 2003 to Manuel Medina, he regained it the following November with a victory over the Mexican.

Harrison is trained by his father Peter and is still based in Scotland.

He's obviously a complete tosser or has a genuine drink problem, either way his career wont be lasting much longer if he dont sort it out.

Ive heard more about this guy getting into pubbrawls or being arrested then I have anything about him in the ring... Also I thought he had to pull out of a figt recently with an abcess.. Or is that a different guy.
