No other sport in the world mistreats their audiences and paying customers more than the fight game. Promo co's denying fans of key matchups, network wars and geographical restrictions, bogus titles, inept judges, overpriced single event ppv's, etc..

Just the nature of the sport I think. Fighters are the most mistreated of athletes and fan loyalty isn't nearly what it is in some sports, works both ways.

It's not a structured sport and the fighters have too much say in their own careers, which sounds strange but it ruins things a bit.

    For instance in football:
    Chelsea get told to play
    -West Brom on January 1st
    -Arsenal on January 8th
    -Liverpool on January 15th
    -Everton on January 22nd

They do what they're told by those who structure the league because if they DON'T they don't get paid.

I believe there needs to be ALOT more mandatory fights scheduled and maybe a progressive career system.

One that works in a way that if you win like 3 fights you're made to step up a level.

    Unlikely, but I can dream.
    You say tomato,
    ‘n I say …… it correctly.

Personalities, kingdoms/empire building, and egos get in the way of making the best fights. Even when they do happen you have to pay an arm and a leg to watch it. Boxing fans are treated like cunts.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

Works both ways, it could easily be argued that fight fans are among the worst, most unloyal of all sports fans. We constantly shit talk fighters, bury guys after they lose or show any kind of weakness, and what's worse fight fans seem to have no respect for the sport itself. They want entertainment: blood, guts, brain damage, but the actually sweet science - hit and not get hit - people don't give a fuck about, which is why ring geniuses like Rigo and Ward are being shunned by the networks.

Nobody is wishing for brain damage man, c'mon that's a stretch, and the blood and guts people have probably switched over to MMA by now. I think fight fans are some of most loyal fans in sports. The lengths that fans go to in order to watch fights are endless not to mention they cost money.

Boxing fans are poorly treated, and they know it.

However, fans of American and Canadian professional team sports are made fools of and don't even know it. NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB: you name it!
Those fans are so die-hard loyal to the team that they'll argue with complete strangers and even shout insults if the stranger is a fan of the other team. The players that they so feverishly cheer on, those players have no loyalty whatsoever to that team. How do the fans rationalize that? The players are like mercenaries, they'll go wherever the money is and the hell with team loyalty, but the fans proudly and inexplicably wear jerseys with those mercenaries' names, (whoops ), players' name on them.

And futbol fans don't clash? It's all relative, geography has nothing to do with it.

I got news for you man, what do you think happens when a guy gets knocked unconscious? THAT'S A BRAIN INJURY. THAT'S BRAIN DAMAGE. And who the fuck doesn't like brutal knockouts? And when someone fights in a way that is not conducive to either producing or recieving a brutal knockout, they're labelled as pussies and boring. And don't even start with the "MMA and it's fans are more sadistic" nonsense, because it's idiotic.

Fight fans are the most loyal fans in sports? Bull shit. A football fan goes and supports his team. He's a fan of the sport. If it's a low scoring game, if there are no crazy hail mary pass receptions or amazing punt returns, bone crushing hits, ect, he doesn't leave the arena angry. He doesn't get pissed at the winning team for running down the clock by taking knees at the end of the game. He came to see a SPORT, competition, ect. The crazy highlight-reel stuff is just a bonus.

That's not the same way with boxing. The vast majority of boxing fans could give a flying fuck about the technique and the art of boxing. They want to see someone get a concussion, and if it doesn't happen they leave disappointed. So don't give me that shit about boxing fans being the most loyal fans. Bullshit.

And how far do people really go for fights? Most of you internet-savvy motherfuckers just watch the PPVs and fights on illegal streams. Who the fuck does that help? How does that contribute to the sport?

So you're defending the price-gauging that goes on within the boxing promotion wars? Are you fcking serious? And which NFL fans are you interacting with? Did you not see the fan disdain from this years Super Bowl and the level of disappointment shown amongst fans? And the analogy of wanting hard-hitting fights and KO's and wishing for brain injuries is completely insane. You hope for tough fights, and both guys to walk out coherent.

Boxing fans are not mongrels drooling for non competitive matches predictably ending in kos. I think we all want eagerly contested fights with a competitive core. If you're in it just for comic book knockouts, you might be what's wrong with the sport and why guys who haven't proven shit are winning multiple or any "championships".

Fans tolerate the sports ills, its almost a form of self abuse how we prepare ourselves to be disappointed.

That's my point. The lengths that people go to in order to watch fights far exceeds other sports.

    1) So if you don't agree with the price of a product, that gives you the right to steal it? How the fuck does that logically work? If you're not buying the PPVs and you're watching illegal streams, don't act like you're contributing to the sport. You're not contributing fuck all except to the person who owns the streaming site who gets paid for advertising by stealing someone elses' intellectual propery. Pirate and watch streams all you want, but recognize yourself for what you are - a non-contributor.

    2. People were disappointed the football was a blow-out, but nobody is going to stop watching football over it. The networks aren't going to suddenly shun both teams because they didn't put on a barn-burning superbowl. Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, ect, people will tune in to watch and enjoy the sport. Most boxing fans just want blood. There's a big difference.

    3. "And the analogy of wanting hard-hitting fights and KO's and wishing for brain injuries is completely insane. You hope for tough fights, and both guys to walk out coherent."

There's no analogy there. GETTING KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS = BRAIN INJURY. GETTING PUNCHED IN THE HEAD BY ANOTHER MAN SO HARD THAT YOUR BRAIN SLAMS AGAINST THE INSIDE OF YOUR SKULL = BRAIN INJURY. When you are hoping for a big KO, you are hoping for a brain injury. A KO = a concussion. A concussion = a brain injury. It's very simple.

And what happens when shit goes wrong? How many Abdusalamov threads/updates have you seen in the last few months? He went out there, put on an exciting HW brawl, and now he'll be lucky if he can ever have a meaningful interaction with his wife and two daughters again. But that's yesterday's news, nobody cares.

Boxing epitomizes that old song "Nobody Knows you when You're Down and Out". And now fans want to act like they're mistreated or owed something more? Go fuck yourselves, entitled babies.

First off, I buy PPV's almost always, but I don't get pissed at those who don't. They're outrageously priced.

Second, how can you defend American football for violent play and not boxing? People get fcked up just as much and probably more, since you're comparing each event with a 2-22 ratio of players.

Third, do you honestly believe that you're being provided the best possible product when it comes to boxing? That's hardly the case, and when that happens consistently then people should demand better.
