Default Hatton Almost in Tears as Manny Battered De La Hoya

Recognized as the number-one junior welterweight, Ricky Hatton, sat ringside at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last Saturday night and watched his close friend and idol, Oscar De La Hoya, taking a vicious beating for eight rounds at the hands of Manny Pacquiao. De La Hoya also promotes Hatton under the Golden Boy Promotions banner.

Hatton said it was very hard to watch De La Hoya take such a beating. It nearly brought him to tears as Oscar was wide open for Pacquiao's combinations and straight lefts and was barely able to defend himself. Now the Manchester fighter is in line to fight Pacquiao in the first possible super fight of 2009.

"I could have cried. So many good fighters end their careers in that manner, but, thankfully, he is OK. He's such a great champion, such a role model for the game and it wasn't nice to see. He's obviously messed the weight up and, with his age, your reactions go, your resistance goes, you can't take the body shots. All I said was that I want to fight the best in the world. I feel very blessed that I'm in a position to fight someone like Manny Pacquiao. He was outstanding," Hatton told Ron Lewis of The Times.

I will second that sentiment, I was very disheartened myself. I have been a fan of oscar from the age of 13, I think it was the ruelas fight I first watched. Oscar is such a class act embracing the fighter who humiliated him and calling him his idol. boxing will never have a figure like oscar again.
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

Actually Hatton picked PAC to win but I think he didn't envisioned it will be that bad... Hatton is also starting to hype his possible future fight with PAC...

Im quite sure ODLHs bank manager wasnt half as upset as ricky apparently was!!

Hatton-Pacquiao for the 140 pound title is potentially as big a money spinner with ODLH at wembley!!

    lol

Oscar is still the biggest cash cow. I didnt think Hatton could beat him anyway but after seeing Oscar on Saturday I think Hatton would have done and even quicker job . Oscar had nothing . Not even in the early rounds. Hatton would have roughed him up and dropped him

Now its Pac on the cards . Hope its at webmbely . Id go and Ricky has a great chance cuz styles make fights . Pac is yet to be roughed up. Last time it happend to him was vs Sanchez and he didnt take it well

Id take Diaz out and put Oscar in . Im sure if Oscar got a win over some bum then that would be enough for him to justify a big fight again and it would sell .

For him to get those four fights, I think he'd have to win the first one, and I don't see that happening.

I don't think so i think JMM will fight Ricky Hatton next, to try and force Manny Pacquiao to fight him. I think its a perfect chance for JMM to get into the mix, because Manny Pacquiao has stated he won't fight till June.

Pacquiao and marquez are both viable options now and wouldnt force ricky to jump up to 147

ODLH wont box again. I firmly believe what with the manner he was beat on saturday and his sound financial position he`ll call it a day.

A mayweather rematch would hold too many questions and the fact remains margarito, cotto, pacquiao and maybe even JMM will all be in the queue to fight floyd with ricky

He was prolly almost in tears because the chubby lil twat had started to sobre up and the fight knew it was going to be a while before he could get another pint.

Serisouly, was it me or was he fucking wasted during that fight, he had the same look in his eyes as he did when mayweather twated him with that left hook. He was slurring like a pillock.

Way to show your class you dumb fuck.
