    Default Music History

I have a music question for the UK members.

I mostly listen to 1920's - 40's blues music. Lightnin' Hopkins, Blind Willie Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson. etc.

I also listen to country music from those eras and later. Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams Sr., Stonewall Jackson...

My question is... what type of music was popluar in the UK during those times? What music was originating from that part of the world during that time...

I imaigine whimsical Robin Hood and his Merry Men type stuff, hopefully that isn't the case...

Now I am not from Europe but I do believe they enjoyed the big band songs and standards of the 30's-40's...I know most European nations really dug on jazz and blues.

cc for liking some good music, there are very few people who are cultured enough to enjoy it now'a'days

...also for blues (blues didn't start out as guitar based but Robert Johnson and guys like Muddy Waters and BB King helped move it in that direction) and jazz check out Louis Armstrong one of the best artists EVER in the ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE WORLD

    and that's an understatement

No I have a good sense of humor it's just I hate the whole race issue because I'm white and from the South...when you hear it day after day it's difficult know when someone is kidding about it.
