Ok what should I do in this scenario, I have a little less reach than my opponent we are both orthodox. He has a killer jab, but no power in his right hand, I can't seem to work inside, how do I effectively reduce the use of his jab.

Theres a long explanation to why, but jab lightly his right glove and see what happens its a neuron response what happens. It throws his response mechanism heywire

Use the peek-a-boo strategy. It works mostly with short guys against taller opponents. Watch Tyson, Cotto, Juan Diaz, or Penalosa fight and you'll see what I'm talking about. Use more lateral footwork, fake, make him miss, and just counter. If that doesn't work, then just stalk him.
Scrap could you shoot me a PM or explain to me the principles and method of using the jab/tap gloves technique? This is a bit of info that i've really been searching for, and you seem to be THE knowledgeable person on the subject.
I've always known about tapping at the gloves or jabbing at it, but its still quite a mystery to me as to how it works EXACTLY and how i can apply it better. Could you explain to me the different uses? As far as i know, it could be used for range, timing, upsetting your opponents timing.
Im a southpaw, so would i get different effects if i jab his front glove as opposed to his rear? (i dont think i can jab at his rear safely anyways, with the way our bodies are aligned) How should i work off it?
I once saw a southpaw vs orthodox sparring in my gym, The southpaws trainer told him "Jab at the guys front glove, and right after you jab his glove, go in for the straight left" He did it, and knocked the other guy on his butt. My thought was that, when he touched his jab on the guys glove, it set his range for the straight left? Am i right on that?
I was amazed by how it worked. Well anyways, coulda ya please fill me in Scrap or anyone else with real knowledge on this subject.
You need to counter his aggression to get insude.
Draw the jab, slip it and move in.
Draw the right, slip it and ur in.
Draw a hook duck it and youre in

you dont want to come stright in ( a str8 line. ) , step off to the side then make your apporach , there are lots of tricks a slick jabber will do to set you up, that means you can't be predictable , be sure when you slip a jab your head does not come back to the origonal spot or you will see the black lights to be sure. stepping off just a bit can put you in the drivers seat, be mindful of your balance .
You can move in there with a little shove and go in further on his reaction.
IF he leaves the jab arm hanging out there and only half cocks it and shuffels along from behind it : Or if you can time the end of his jab by safe distancing yourself as it comes; you can take his elbow point as it returns with a glove from the outside and shuv it into him or over towards his other arm as you safley move into the inside range. They react to a shove and youre attacking arm goes around the reverse way to the reaction and attack up the gap with your free arm or loop the pusher arm around it into an uppercut. Your in there then.
IF you can reach his elbow point with a glove he cant reach your face or body with that hand, the control is placed briefly right there as you move in further. Some great natural instinctive combos can come out of it.
Sometimes you have to move to the outside of his jab bodily.
Sometimes it doesnt work well at all like on a rising type snapping jab but you can still jam it up the same way if you follow it right back home and stay more to that one side.
