Whats the deal with K1? If you look at the records of its top fighters almost all of them have alot of losses. Bojansky. Mcdonald, Hoost, Mirko, Hunt and Safo all have several losses. Why do yall think that is? Is there really that much parity? What is the difference in boxing and K1 that causes the desparity in its top fighters records

It's a great question. It seems like anybody can beat anybody in it. I've seen Rick Roufus get the crap kicked out of him and then kill the same guy the next fight.

I think it's mostly because they always have grand prixs where they fight several 3-round fights on the same day so if you're beat up from a fight it'll affect you in subsequent fights to the point where you can't even continue. It's like whoever takes the least amount of punishment usually wins the event.

There is that but also fights aren't scheduled like say boxing, you generally sign up to fight at so many events come what may. You could pull out if you get injured but considering that this event is pretty much the daddy when it comes to prize money for standup/KB's/MT fighters they're not likely to do it, plus you could loose your contract. Not really safe or fair but it does open up the field.

I think also because they actually make competative matchups in K1 , unlike in boxing where you might have to wait 5 years or so for your favourite fighter to have a competative fight and then retire straight after..

Well, you have to adapt at different styles in one night, this is not easy...

taking Bonjasky and then Schemy Schilt is something totally different and really hard to do...

Plus you have the cream of the cream, Lebanner, Badr Hari, Schilt, Bonjasky, Aerts are really really difficult to beat when they are trained and motivated...

let's do the same thing in boxing : one night with De la hoya, Hopkins, Trinidad, Mayweather, Vargas, Mosley, Taylor, Calzaghe...

it won't be the same winner each time, and I could forgive these boxers to have multiple loses on their records regarding the quality of opposition...

Besides that, Japanese fight fans are always fond of entertainement, no matter if you lose or win, if you entertained them by your heart, fight style, ....they will appreciate you.

In US or in Europe, we always put losers on the recycle bin ;-) how many guys have we written off after only one lose ?
