    Default Cotto vs Canelo

    Who do you have?

Personally I think Cotto will win this pretty easily.

I think he might stop Canelo in the later rounds.

    What do you say?

I think Cotto uses his footspeed advantage and outboxes Canelo.

Canelo for me. Trout beat Cotto, then Canelo beat Trout ,nobody would've thought Cotto would beat Canelo. A few bullshit fights from Cotto since then have only papered over that in my book.

This might be correct. It all depends on whether you think Cotto's wins over Rodriguez, Martinez, and Geale, were as mirage, or were real wins over tough opponents. One thing stands out for me. Cotto didn't get touched very much in any of those fights. I wish we could see how he does holding up against a junior middleweight before he faces Canelo, but as for now, I lean Canelo.

Let's see he fought a crippled Martinez, a B- fighter in Geale who was fighting below middleweight and Delvin "never beat anyone of note" Rodriguez...

I think Canelo smashes him in an exciting while it lasts fight.

I think both guys will have their moments. I see Alvarez' young being the difference down the stretch. Canelo wins a close fight with Cotto in survival mode towards the end or manages to take Cotto out late.

I like Alvarez in this style wise. Finally all that patient boxing plotting and short bursts will pay off late, sap a lot of Cotto mobility. Probably come in bigger, not some gaunt bloated bigger but healthy big who also has pull. Considering I don't like either one now its a damn good fight as long as Cotto doesn't go all entitled diva and insist on riding his gilded battle Unicorn into the ring Both get marked up considerably before its over also. Puff vs cuts.

Alvarez comfortably. Both are long way behind Pac and Floyd but Alvarez has age and size advantage. Been curious as to what weight this will be at? At middleweight any weight above 154 is going to be a huge advantage to Alvarez. Could this be the 1st MW title fight competed at LMW limits?

The only thing I disagree with is I reckon Alvarez would beat Pac.

Cotto uses his jab and movement to confuse the one dimensional slow Canelo, outboxing him while avoiding his shots, and landing his own body shots on the ginger, people bitching about Cotto's opponents while trying to boost up Canelo who beat up a never was in Angulo (who had already just been beat and quit against Lara), was given a gift against Lara himself, and then beat up another never was who hadn't fought in nearly two years in Kirkland

and yea Canelo was given a decision against Trout (I felt that Trout won a close fight), but their other common opponent is who?! oh right Floyd Mayweather, where Canelo was schooled the entire fight while Cotto gave him one of his toughest fights in the last 5 years

A few fights ago everybody would have picked Alvarez but Cotto looks a different fighter since he hooked up with Roach. However he hasn't fought anybody dangerous since he lost to Trout, he'll have had tougher sparring sessions than the Martinez fight.

I'm interested to see how Cotto stands up to somebody more powerful than him who also has a hell of a left hook thumping him in the liver. I think they both have their moments and win rounds but Alvarez takes over after four to six rounds, Cotto goes on the back foot for the rest of the fight and Alvarez wins on points or maybe even a late stoppage.

You're just throwing out terms like gifted, or given a decision, when they don't apply whatsoever. I thought Canelo beat Trout and Lara, it's certainly easy to score those fights for him if you don't try not to. Both of those guys(Trout and Lara) are clearly better than anyone Cotto has beaten above welterweight, I think that's why a lot of people pick Alvarez. I'm not affected personally by either fighter, just the way I see it.

I am a Cotto fan and would support him against Canelo but Floyd fought aggressively against Miguel because he thought he would be able to stop him because Cotto has been in so many wars.

Floyd never took that risk against Canelo because he would have got seriously hurt. So the fights was closer against Cotto but only for that reason.
