Default What do you guys think of Billy Graham as a trainer?

Personally hes a really top bloke, but im not sure of his world class credentials as a trainer or corner man, take a look at the Macklin Moore fight, similar to the Hatton Collazo fight, does Billy not teach his fighters the technigue or skill of defence? Very Bizzare, that in these two quite high profile fights both his fighters had some of the worst defence i have seen in a while, i think a different approach from Macklon would of won him that fight, for me he was the more stronger, but the defence and tactics were all wrong similar to Hatton against Collazo, so can Billy take Ricky to the very top? I have my doubts.

He should stick to conditioning... tactics wise in Hattons corner and in developing a strategy he was awful...

"Go and bully this rangey southpaw who is naturally much bigger than you and competent on the inside, same as you would a light welter"

He had Hatton standing in front of Collazo all night, Hatton had to be active but only when he was in his own punching range... instead of staying in either his range or Collazo range he should of been told to step back out of both of their ranges after scoring with flurys.

They just trained hatton to maraud him as if he was a 140 pounder.

I think maybe its a case of "Billy Graham doesnt know how to tarin Hatton to handle 147ers"
Rather than "Hatton just cant handle 147ers" as i originally thought

he's a better trainer than he was an evangelist.

well maybe a bit of both but like Adam said, Graham expected Hatton to go in stand in front of a naturally bigger man and just chop him down, like Adam sadi maybe thats all Grahms got, becasue his other fighter Macklin did exactly the same against Moore on Friday and again it went horribly wrong.

There are plenty of weaker fighters than Hatton who are up at Welter, because they train to box the Hatton camp seems to have been beleiving it's hype more and more and think that Hatton can get away with just Mauling every one he fights.

hatton actually had very fast hands once upon a time and was developing his boxing skills... what happened?

If you watch him fight you see breif glimpes of skilled boxing (less and less) the fact is that he can do it but his camp a negleting it and not developing it or keeping it sharp.
