Hagler vs. Mugabi... IMO was a great, great fight too bad we don't hear more about it.

A lot of people in boxing fancied Mugabi to beat Hagler, I remember it well. Mugabi was a good fighter and puncher. Micky Duff had a nice few qiud on mugabi to win. It was that fight that made me a believer in Hagler.

It was also that fight which made Ray Leonard a believer that he could beat Hagler, at least thats what he said, while watching that fight he seen things that were to his advantage. For some reason Hagler and Hearns fought each others #1 contenders that night. Mugabi was the #1 Jr Middleweight contender to Hearn's title fighting Hagler, and James Shuler was the #1 Middleweight contender to Haglers title fighting Hearns.

George Francis told me he was the worst fighter he trained for discipline, but a great fighter I think i beleive George.

I am talking about the fight not one guy being overrated or the other not being... THe pace kept up through the fight, and the advantage switched sides alot with alot of inside skill being shown, and Hagler even showed speed and skill on the outside while switching from southpaw to orthodox and vice virsa.

Hagler/Mugabi was a fun fight, but that was due to the fact that IMO by 1986 Hagler was arguably 8 years past his pomp.

But the Marvelous one got the W, and for perhaps the only time in his pro career Mugabi gutted it out and gave it his best; and we had a fight of the year because of that.

Could be cuz Mugabi was an overrated fighter

    He was not over rated

he was 25 wins 25 ko's when he fought Hagler

It's just that he was a ko artist and Hagler is a ring technician, Hagler tired him and KO him late in the 11th, Mugabi just doesn't have the stamina anymore

Agreed. 100%. I love pretty much any Hagler fight...so my opinion might be moot.

It took Hagler a while to wear Mugabi down but I think Hagler ruined Mugabi that night he was never the same again. Because I don't think Terry Norris would have knocked out in one round the Mugabi that Hagler fought.
