Default How do I overcome this defensive fighter?

I need a way to bait an attack, or reaction from this defensive fighter so I can counterpunch (or anything) without putting myself at risk. He is tall, strong, and quick. Its also difficult to approach as his legs and arms are very long which allows him to evade a lot of my attacks while staying out of range. If I get close, he blocks, or endures my hit and often circles around, grappling when he can't get away.

Just a suggestion, check your lateral movement. It's very difficult for a good defensive fighter, especially a tall one to keep pace with a circling opponent. It's takes consistent concentration a well as great footwork to dance with a smaller fighter. Keep in mind where YOUR feet are at all times, outside his, this creates angles which should allow you to get in to hook or jab to BODY.

The more you improve all the aspects of your boxing, the better off that you'll be against a skilled opponent who so happens to be taller. Work on your footwork, slipping punches, and countering and defending against his jab.

You should also study some of James Toney's fights, he doesn't need to be overly aggressive, or put on track shoes to be competitive with a taller opponent. Watch how he crouches, makes himself a smaller target, how he moves in response to his opponent's punches, and how he can make the taller man reach.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

Beat the shit out of his arms, muscle your way into "the pocket", use your hands to open up his defense. Watching Marciano, Tyson, Holyfield, and The Klitschko's should help you.....if you can swat his guard down then you're in the money, that works like a damn charm
