Default My Dawson - Johnson Scorecard.

    Joh - Daw
    9 R1 10
    9 R2 10
    10 R3 9
    10 R4 9
    10 R5 9
    9 R6 10
    9 R7 10
    9 R8 10
    9 R9 10
    10 R10 9
    10 R11 9
    10 R12 9
    114 TOT 114

Dawson started off well in the first round using movement and being more active and similar action happened in the second round. Johnson started to step up his workrate in rounds 3 to 5 and Dawson seemed to abandon his footwork sometimes in these rounds and stay on the inside with Johnson where Johnson would get his best work done.

In round 6 Dawson started using his footwork again and did his work on the outside which he did well for the sixth round till the 9th. He started the 10th round well boxing on the outside but then got hit by a big johnson right in the middle of the round and he totally abandoned his movement and stayed on the inside with Johnson and Johnson would land well when dawson was in close. Dawson in rounds 11 and 12 stayed on the inside with Johnson and Johnson was clearly landing the better shots in these rounds.

It was a CLOSE fight. I would have chosen draw if you had put a draw option in the poll.

I think Johnson presents style problems for any figher with a boxing style. I am rooting for Dawson to beat Tarver and I think the fight should be easier for him than the Johnson fight.

    It was close for sure.

Johnson may be 39 but he is a tough opponent for anyone at 175. Even though he won a clear points victory which it should not of been ,had he used his superior footwork more instead of staying on the inside with johnson in the fight the fight wouldn't of been as close in the fans eyes.

I didn't score it but certainly Johnson was the moral victor

Dawson has talent but looks vulnurable.

Luckily there's no real big punchers in the light heavyweight division right now and most of the stars are old but at some point in his career he's being laid out flat.

I actually reckon if Danny Green came back if he landed he would lay him out cold.

Dawson is very talented and even when he has been hurt he has showed toughness and heart and come back to win.

As for Danny Green i have never seen him fight.

I agree. Even if Johnson was the moral victor, I think Dawson didn't get enough credit for his resliency. He showed mad heart.

Heres a post i made back in April.

    1 Dawson 10-9
    2 Dawson 10-9
    3 Johnson 10-9
    4 Johnson 10-9
    5 Johnson 10-9
    6 Dawson 10-9
    7 Dawson 10-9
    8 Dawson 10-9
    9 Dawson 10-9
    10 Johnson 10-9
    11 Johnson 10-9
    12 Johnson 10-9

    114-114

No way was this a robbery Dawson saved himself by winning 4 rounds on the trot from 6 to 9 he won those rounds clearly IMO, Johnson did land the harder shots though no question and he for certain won the last 3 rounds earning himself a draw. One of the best Lightheavyweight fights i've seen for years.

I picked dawson, it was close and johnson wasn't hit with near as many shots as dawson probably got credit for, but if you sit there and give the judges any reason to even think you're getting hit you only have yourself to blame. Perception is huge in boxing, you never know what the three different judges are seeing and johnson just gave them too much doubt. A draw wouldn't have bothered me either, but no way dawson should have been given a loss....just my opinion i've only watched it the one time though.

i had dawson winning but only like a round or two. But the judges had the fight way off for dawson by like 4 rounds, and i was shocked to see that cause the fight was way closer than that.

I had it 115-113 Johnson, but I can't complain about it (I tried, but Fenster got on my case) it was a close fight and definately could have gone either way.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
