Default What are your top five greatest fights?

    in no particular order

    1. Michael Carbajal vs. Chiquita Gonzalez
    2. Alexis Arguello vs. Aron Pryor
    3. Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo
    4. Tommy Hearns vs. Marvin Hagler
    5. Tommy Hearns vs. Sugar Ray Leonard

in all fights, the fighters were almost evenly matched. they had to dig down deep to win.

I am sure there are many that I forgot, those come to mind right now.

Yeah I definitely did not bother with ranking them. I assigned numbers but yeah, every fight listed so far is on such a pinnacle that it's impossible to face them against each other. I also wanted the fights to be significant so fights like Ward - Burton and Ward - Green got disqualified. But really, some fantastic fights. I didn't put Arguello - Pryor down but if a fight were to be any more brutal then that, it would be criminal.

For me, great fights are ones that have kept me on the edge of my seat. Also, I tend to watch boxing from my era. I'm not interested in stuff from before I was born...I prefer to focus on what I see live. So in no particular order...

    1. Jose Luis Castillo vs. Diego Corrales
Without doubt, the best fight I've ever seen. It was amazing and I wish I'd been there.

    2. Ricky Hatton vs. Luis Collazo
I know people will crucify me for this, but I was excited throughout, and had no idea who'd won up until the final bell. It was a much better fight than his fight with Tszyu, because I felt Tszyu was well beaten.

    3. Erik Morales vs. Manny Pacquiao I
Amazing fight. Pac was amazing and he still wasn't the best performer in the ring at that time.

    4. Erik Morales vs. Marco Antonio Barrera I
    Another fantastic fight.

    5. Prince Naseem Hamed vs. Kevin Kelley
So many knockdowns in such little time.

All of these fights had something memorable for me. In No particular order...

    Leonard - Hearns I
Leonard dug deep for this one. Till then, I had him pegged as a media darling, but after this fight I really had to give him his due as a great fighter.

Cornelius Boza Edwards - Rafael "Bazooka" Limon
Just a great battle. non stop action.

    Ali - Foreman
Maybe not the best in terms of boxing skill, but unbeatable for build up and drama. IMO ALi was brilliant, I womder if eeven Dundee had an idea about what would happen. Ali made Foreman look like a Klutz.

    Hopkins - Trinidad
Like waiting for the bomb to go off, but it never happened. I was all for Hopkins, but very nervous of Tito's power. Hopkins strategy worked to a T, imo he cemented his genious with this fight.

Hard to pick a fifth, there are so many but I'll say Arguello-Mancini. Mancini was young, strong, amd aggressive, and a good boxer, but Arguello was at his peak or only slightly past it, and held him off for a smooth victory. Arguello was always one of my favorites.
